Flourish Community Solutions - Toowoomba QLD

Flourish Community Solutions has casual opportunities for Youth Workers and Family Support Workers in the Toowoomba Region and the surrounding areas. The opportunity requires working directly with youth and families in their own homes and communities, supporting them in scheduled family contact, managing complex trauma behaviours and assisting with reconnecting the family. No overnight shifts required.

Note this is not disability support work.

We are specifically looking for those with good availability; many working patterns are available. Only experienced workers with good availability need to apply. We work under the SCHADS award, and weekend rates apply, making this an attractive opportunity. We are looking for support workers who are interested in supporting change and embracing individuality and are driven to achieve outcomes. Reliability and dedication to deliver therapeutic, caring support are a must.

Flourish Community Solutions provides intensive family support, parent mentoring, and early intervention solutions to young people and families in need. Working alongside families and young people wherever they are in their journey, with a focus on keeping families together safely.

About the Role

You will work directly with young people and families in their homes and communities, supporting meaningful and lasting change.

This includes:

- Supporting family contact and connection
- Providing parenting education, support and mentoring
- Supporting emotional regulation and behaviour management
- Implementing strategies from the care plan to address concerns
- Helping reduce crisis and build stability within families
- Supporting young people facing challenges and mentoring them to make better decisions.
- Assist families in supporting them through their daily challenges, such as health, complex behaviours, AOD, DFV etc, child behaviour management, future planning and access to services.

This is hands-on, relationship-based work that requires empathy, consistency, and a strong therapeutic approach. Knowledge and professional experience of parenting development, complex youth support, child safety, mental health, substance misuse, behaviour management and domestic family violence would be advantageous.





What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for people who:

- Are reliable, consistent, and available for regular shifts (including weekends)
- Have experience working with complex young people and/or families
- Are passionate about supporting change, strengthening families and empowering communities.
- Can remain calm, responsive, and supportive in crisis situations
- Value individuality, inclusivity, dignity, and diversity.
- Deep understanding of trauma-informed practice
- Ability to problem-solve and see opportunities in a crisis.

The Work You’ll Be Doing

- Provide therapeutic, strengths-based support to families and young people, working alongside Child Safety requirements and goals.
- Work with clients experiencing child safety involvement, mental health concerns, trauma concerns, DFV, AOD, neurodiversity, and complex behaviours.
- At times, support NDIS participants with daily living and community access
- Assist families in building safer parenting practices and routines, addressing child protection concerns.
- Help prevent entry or re-entry into the child protection system or assist with reconnection to the family from the CS system. Youth support and guidance.
- Transport clients to appointments or family contact (where required)
- Maintain accurate case notes and documentation
- Implement strategies to achieve case goal outcomes, guided by a Service Coordinator
- Ability to identify, manage, and report risk appropriately
- Strong professional boundaries and communication skills
- Confidence working both independently and within a team
- Commitment to culturally safe and respectful practice
- Willingness to connect and engage in team training, supervision, and events.
- Ability to use computer-based systems for documentation and policy adherence.

Requirements

- Desired: Certificate IV or Diploma with more than 2 years of experience in any of the following genres:



Community Services Youth Work Social Work / Social Welfare Family Intervention or similar
- Demonstrated experience in therapeutic, residential care, or support-based roles
- Understanding of child protection concerns and risk factors
- A Current: Blue Card / Working with Children Check
- Driver’s Licence & reliable vehicle
- Smartphone & computer access
