Terra Firma Laboratories is a leading provider of construction materials testing services across Western Australia. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Soil Technician to join our Perth-based team.
This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a professional, safety-focused organisation working on major civil, infrastructure and mining projects throughout WA. As our business continues to expand, there will also be potential FIFO opportunities for the right candidates.
About the Role
As a Soil Technician, you will be responsible for carrying out field testing in accordance with Australian Standards while maintaining the highest level of quality, accuracy and professionalism.
Key responsibilities include:
- Carrying out field density and compaction testing.
- Performing testing in accordance with AS 1289, including AS 1289.5.8.1.
- Recording accurate field results and completing required documentation.
- Maintaining testing equipment and company vehicles.
- Liaising professionally with clients, contractors and project personnel.
- Working safely while complying with company procedures and NATA requirements.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Current Nuclear Density Gauge (NDG) Licence.
- Demonstrated experience performing soil testing in accordance with AS 1289, particularly AS 1289.5.8.1.
- Current Australian Driver's Licence.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
Desirable
- Certificate III in Laboratory Skills, Civil Construction, or equivalent qualification.
- Previous experience working within a NATA-accredited construction materials testing laboratory.
- Experience across additional construction materials testing disciplines.
Australian Industry Experience Required
Applicants must have previous Australian construction materials testing experience.
You should have a sound understanding of Australian Standards, local site practices and the expectations of working within a NATA-accredited environment. Experience carrying out field testing in accordance with AS 1289, particularly AS 1289.5.8.1, is essential.
Applications from candidates without relevant Australian industry experience will not be considered.
Location Requirements
This is a Perth-based position.
Applicants must currently reside in Perth or be willing to relocate to Perth at their own expense.
