We are now looking for a Merchandise Planner to join our HQ team located in Newstead, Brisbane.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Merchandise Planner plays a critical role in driving sales, margin, and inventory performance across assigned categories. Partnering closely with Buying, this role is responsible for translating financial targets and trading insights into actionable inventory and assortment plans that support both commercial performance and customer demand.

This role is ideal for a commercially minded and analytically driven Planner who thrives in a fast-paced fashion retail environment and is passionate about using data and insights to influence trading decisions and optimise inventory productivity.

Working closely with Buying, Design, Production, Ecommerce, and wider cross-functional teams, the Merchandise Planner will play a key role in ensuring collections are commercially balanced, strategically planned, and aligned with the VRG GRL customer and brand vision.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

Financial & Strategic Planning

- Develop and execute merchandise plans aligned with company objectives, seasonal trends, and sales targets
- Build sales, margin, and stock budgets that support commercial growth and inventory productivity
- Analyse historical sales performance, customer demand,



and market trends to forecast future inventory needs accurately
- Conduct pricing analysis and support RRP strategy through performance insights across price architecture
- Provide commercially focused recommendations to support strategic business decisions

Inventory & Allocation Management

- Maintain optimal stock levels across retail and ecommerce channels
- Coordinate restocks alongside the Head of Merchandise & Trade while managing critical path timelines
- Monitor and adjust inventory levels to improve stock turn, maximise sell-through, and minimise excess inventory
- Support new store openings, promotional periods, and key trading events through effective inventory planning
- Drive inventory efficiency through proactive management of stock flow and allocation strategies

Range & Assortment Planning

- Partner with Merchandise, Design, and Production teams to build balanced assortments aligned with customer demand and brand direction
- Support size curve planning and depth strategies to optimise performance and reduce markdown risk
- Assist in planning seasonal drops, capsule collections, and promotional events in line with the brand calendar
- Collaborate with Ecommerce teams to execute promotional and markdown strategies throughout the product lifecycle
- Stay informed on industry trends, competitor activity, and customer behaviour to influence planning decisions

Trading & Performance Management

- Monitor and interpret trading performance across sales, margin, forecast accuracy, and inventory productivity
- Use insights across sell-through, stock cover, stock turn,



and product performance to influence trading actionsDrive data-informed recommendations including reorders, markdowns, cancellations, and stock transfers
- Support markdown and inventory exit strategies to balance margin protection and stock productivity
- Deliver clear, commercially focused reporting and insights to senior leadership teams

ABOUT YOU

- 2-5+ years' experience in merchandise planning within women's fashion or apparel retail
- Strong commercial and numerical acumen
- Advanced Excel skills including planning models, forecasting, and pivot tables
- Experience planning across both retail and ecommerce channels
- Strong analytical capability with the ability to translate data into clear commercial actions
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Confident communicator with the ability to influence stakeholders
- Commercially minded, customer-focused, and solutions-oriented
- Adaptable and able to thrive in a fast-paced setting
- Strong understanding of retail calendars, seasonality, and multi-drop trading environments
- Passionate about product, performance, and customer experience
