New South Lawyers is seeking an experienced and client-focused Senior Family Lawyer with 7+ years' post-admission experience to join our expanding Family Law team based in the heart of Parramatta's CBD at the landmark 8 Parramatta Square precinct - one of Australia's most significant urban renewal projects and a premium commercial destination in the centre of Western Sydney.
Positioned directly above Parramatta Station and moments from the new Parramatta Light Rail, River Cat ferry services and major arterial roads including the M4, 8 Parramatta Square offers exceptional convenience and connectivity for professionals travelling from across Sydney. The precinct is also surrounded by premium dining, cafes, fitness facilities, retail amenity and major commercial and government tenants, creating a vibrant and highly professional working environment in the centre of Sydney's rapidly expanding second CBD.

About the Role:
Working closely with New South Lawyers' Directors, you will take carriage of a complex and high-value family law caseload while playing a leading role within a cooperative and high-performing team environment.
This role offers genuine ownership of sophisticated and high-stakes family law matters, significant client-facing responsibility, and the opportunity to mentor and guide more junior lawyers as part of the firm's continued growth.
Matters may include:
- Complex and high-value property settlements, including matters involving trusts,
corporate structures and third-party interests
- Complex parenting disputes and children's matters, including relocation and international matters
- Child support assessments and disputes
- Multi-party and high-conflict family law proceedings
- Divorce applications and hearings
- Domestic and family violence matters, including complex or contested proceedings
- Mediation and dispute resolution conferences
- Federal Circuit and Family Court proceedings, including final hearings and complex interlocutory applications
About You:
To succeed in this role, you will ideally demonstrate:
- Seven or more years' post-admission experience practising predominantly in Family Law
- Deep working knowledge of Federal Circuit and Family Court practice, procedures and rules
- A proven track record independently managing complex, high-value family law matters from commencement through to resolution, including final hearing
- Superior drafting skills, including affidavits, Initiating Applications, Responses, Financial Statements, Consent Orders and correspondence
- Confidence leading client relationships and managing client expectations with professionalism, empathy and commercial awareness, including with high-net-worth and high-conflict clients
- Advanced advocacy and negotiation skills, including substantial experience appearing at court mentions, mediations, directions hearings, interim hearings and settlement conferences
- High level emotional intelligence and the ability to lead clients and junior team members sensitively and effectively through emotionally challenging matters
- Exceptional organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage a demanding caseload and competing priorities against strict court deadlines
- Strong commercial acumen and sound judgement in achieving practical, commercially sound client outcomes
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and take ownership of matters and outcomes, while mentoring and supporting junior lawyers and contributing to team culture
- Genuine leadership qualities, initiative and a proactive approach to problem solving
- Strong work ethic and a genuine desire to continue building a long-term career and leadership profile within family law
Highly Regarded:
- Experience in complex parenting and property matters
- Advocacy and interim hearing experience
- Experience attending mediations and dispute resolution conferences
- Familiarity with electronic court filing systems and legal practice management platforms
- Existing professional referral networks or business development capability
- A genuine interest in long-term career progression within family law and the broader growth of the firm
