The Role:
The Brokerage Officer (Imports Coordinator) is responsible for managing and coordinating all import activities to ensure the timely, compliant, and cost‑effective movement of goods from international suppliers to company facilities. The role involves liaising with overseas vendors, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and internal stakeholders to ensure shipments are delivered according to schedule while meeting all regulatory and documentation requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Import Operations
- Coordinate and monitor international shipments.
- Track shipment status and provide regular updates to internal stakeholders.
- Manage import schedules to ensure inventory availability and minimise supply chain disruptions.
- Arrange and coordinate freight bookings with airlines and freight forwarders.
- Resolve shipment delays, customs issues, and transportation challenges.
Documentation & Compliance
- Prepare, review, and maintain import documentation, including:
- Packing lists
- Bills of lading
- Certificates of origin
- Import permits and licenses
- Ensure compliance with customs regulations, trade agreements, and company policies.
- Liaise with customs brokers to facilitate effective customs clearance.
- Maintain accurate import records and audit‑ready documentation.
- Communicate with overseas suppliers regarding shipment schedules, documentation requirements, and delivery expectations.
- Build strong working relationships with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and transport providers
Qualifications & Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in import/export, logistics, supply chain, or freight coordination.
- Knowledge of international shipping procedures and customs regulations.
- Experience working with freight forwarders and customs brokers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Understanding of Incoterms and international trade compliance.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and relationship management skills.
- Problem‑solving and analytical thinking.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Sound commercial awareness and cost‑conscious mindset.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
