A W Edwards Pty Ltd About the Role As a Cost Controller, you will play a key role in supporting the financial success of major construction projects by providing accurate cost control, financial forecasting, and risk management.

Working closely with project and finance teams, you will monitor project costs, analyse financial performance, ensure compliance with company policies and statutory requirements, and provide practical financial advice to support informed decision-making. This role reports to the Chief Financial Officer and is part of the Finance & Accounting Team. Benefits Competitive salary package.

Task & responsibilities

The primary purpose of this position is to create value for the business through, but not limited to: Mitigating operational risks and optimising opportunities Responsibility over the performance of project financial functions Supporting Project Team by providing cost control expertise through accurate financial forecasting and risk control, financial operations and ensuring legal and procedural compliance Providing accurate, pragmatic advice to the project whilst maintaining an acceptable level of risk Primary tasks/ responsibilities Prepare and manage monthly project cost reports, forecasts, and financial analysis. Monitor project budgets, actual costs, accruals, and cash flow forecasts.





Conduct variance analysis and recommend cost-saving opportunities. Identify financial risks and develop mitigation strategies. Support project teams by providing cost control and financial advice.

Maintain Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and ensure accurate budget allocation. Review subcontractor accruals and cost reallocations.

Prepare internal and external financial reports. Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and legislative requirements. Assist with internal and external audits.

Review accounting entries and maintain accurate financial records. Build strong relationships with project managers, contract administrators, and finance stakeholders. Drive continuous improvement of financial processes and reporting.

Provide technical expertise and mentor less experienced staff where required. Qualification & experience Essential Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related discipline. Minimum 5 years' experience in Cost Control within the construction industry or similar project environments.

Demonstrated experience in: Project financial forecasting Cost management Risk management Accounting principles Continuous improvement initiatives Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience using accounting software. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.





Desirable Progress towards or completion of CA or CPA qualification. Experience using SAP. The Skills
