Heston MRO Pty Ltd(Heston MRO) is a provider of world class aircraft maintenance services to a wide variety of domestic and international airlines.

Based in Brisbane with operations at all major Australian airports, we are seeking someone to join our close knit, supportive team at our Head Office.

As Assistant Accountant, you will support the Finance Manager in delivering accurate financial reporting, maintaining financial controls and ensuring the integrity of accounting records across the business.

You will play a key role in month-end reporting, reconciliations, financial analysis and compliance activities, while also providing support and cross-functional coverage across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll functions when required.

Key Responsibilities:

- Supervising an Accounts Payable Officer and a Junior Accountant/Revenue Officer
- Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts and reporting packs.
- Prepare journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations.
- Assist with completing balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes.
- Assist in maintaining fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
- Support inventory accounting and operational finance activities.
- Assist with audit preparation and compliance requirements.
- Provide support and leave coverage across AP, AR and Payroll functions as required.




- Contribute to finance process improvements and system enhancements.

About You

- A Diploma of Accounting, Diploma of Finance and Accounting, or equivalent qualification.
- Current studies towards a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce or Finance.
- Approximately 2+ years experience in an Assistant Accountant, Finance Officer, Accounts Officer or similar role.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and month-end processes.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience using ERP or accounting systems.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- A proactive attitude and desire to learn and develop professionally.
- Progression towards CPA Australia or CA ANZ qualification, or an intention to commence qualified studies upon completion of your degree.
- Experience in aviation, engineering, manufacturing, maintenance, logistics or other asset-intensive industries.
- Exposure to inventory accounting, budgeting and management reporting.
