Civil/Structural Engineer — run real projects, backed by real systems

Metric Engineering is a boutique structural, civil and temporary-works consultancy delivering premium engineering for Class 1 & 2 residential, commercial and heritage projects across Sydney - plus the specialist formwork and temporary-works packages bigger firms shy away from.

We're not a churn-and-burn consultancy. We're a systems-driven practice: documented SOPs, house drafting standards, independent design checks, offshore drafting support, and AI-augmented workflows that strip the grunt work out of engineering. You do the engineering; the machine does the admin.

The role

- Run structural jobs end-to-end — design basis, analysis, documentation, certification support — under our project delivery system
- Residential (Class 1 & 2), commercial fit-out/structural, remedial and temporary-works packages
- Coordinate directly with architects, builders and certifiers — you own the client relationship on your jobs




- Site inspections and construction-phase support
- Work under and contribute to our design-check regime (your work is independently checked — and you'll grow into checking others)
- Direct mentorship from our Technical Director and Principal — with a explicit runway to Senior Engineer and CPEng/RPEng support

About you

- BEng (Civil/Structural) 3–6 years in Australian consulting
- Confident with AS 1170, AS 3600, AS 4100 (AS 3610 / temp-works exposure a big plus)
- Competent in structural analysis software (Space Gass/INDUCTA/ETABS or similar) and comfortable marking up for drafters
- Clear written communication — your calcs, notes and emails will be read by builders, certifiers and (occasionally) lawyers
- You like ownership: running a job beats being a CAD monkey on someone else's
