About the Role:
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to lead a dedicated team responsible for designing, building, and operating secure cloud infrastructure within a complex enterprise workplace. This hands-on role involves cloud engineering, automation, CI/CD pipeline development, and cloud platform uplift initiatives. You will collaborate closely with internal technical teams and stakeholders to deliver resilient cloud solutions aligned with strategic priorities and contribute as a Subject Matter Expert to improve engineering practices across the ICT group.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a small team of cloud engineers in designing, implementing, and supporting AWS and Microsoft Azure infrastructure.
- Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation tools to support cloud platform delivery.
- Build, manage, and optimize CI/CD pipelines incorporating embedded security and compliance controls.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure and platform issues, working with technical teams and stakeholders to identify and resolve problems.
- Produce high-quality technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, procedures, and operational guides.
- Participate in infrastructure design, risk management, and technical decision-making processes.
- Drive continuous improvement in cloud engineering practices, platform reliability, and operational capabilities.
- Provide mentoring, coaching,
and knowledge sharing within the Infrastructure and Operations teams.
- Minimum of five years' experience as a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer or similar role within a complex enterprise environment.
- Extensive hands-on experience with AWS and Microsoft Azure, covering core services such as compute, storage, networking, and security.
- Practical experience developing or supporting CI/CD pipelines, including Azure DevOps and GitOps practices.
- Demonstrated ability to incorporate security and compliance requirements into cloud engineering practices and pipelines.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate, train, and manage team members and prioritize competing deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Knowledge of cloud cost management and optimization practices.
- Experience working within the Australian Federal Government or other highly regulated environments.
