About the role
We are seeking a capable, hands‑on Infrastructure Engineer with solid experience in enterprise identity and authentication to support and help improve our Active Directory and federated authentication platforms. This is a mid‑level role for an engineer who already has practical experience administering enterprise infrastructure and working knowledge of ADFS and authentication, and who is ready to deepen their expertise and take on greater ownership.

You’ll work alongside senior engineers on mission‑critical identity services, contributing to day‑to‑day support, implementation and troubleshooting, while continuing to develop toward specialist‑level skills in identity and access management. Mentoring and a clear growth pathway are provided.

Key responsibilities

- Administer and support Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) in enterprise environments.
- Support, configure and help implement Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS).
- Assist with federated authentication, Single Sign-On (SSO) and identity federation across the organisation.
- Support the integration of enterprise applications with ADFS and other identity providers.
- Maintain Microsoft Windows Server environments, including Group Policy, DNS, DHCP and Certificate Services.
- Support certificate and PKI management, including SSL/TLS certificate lifecycle tasks.
- Troubleshoot issues across authentication, identity,



networking and infrastructure, escalating complex cases where needed.
- Contribute to monitoring, maintenance and optimisation of highly available authentication services.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures and knowledge articles.
- Work within ITIL service management processes (Incident, Problem and Change Management).

Technical Requirements

- Solid, demonstrated experience administering and supporting Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) in enterprise environments.
- Hands‑on experience supporting and configuring Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS).
- Working experience with federated authentication, Single Sign-On (SSO) and identity federation technologies.
- Good understanding of authentication and identity protocols including SAML 2.0, WS‑Federation, OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect.
- Experience integrating enterprise applications with ADFS or other identity providers.
- Positive knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server administration, including Group Policy, DNS, DHCP and Certificate Services.
- Experience with SSL/TLS certificates and exposure to Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and certificate lifecycle management.
- Experience supporting Microsoft Entra ID (Azure Active Directory) and hybrid identity environments (highly regarded).
- Exposure to Microsoft Entra Connect (Azure AD Connect) and hybrid identity synchronisation.
- Sound troubleshooting skills across authentication, identity, networking and infrastructure components.
- Good understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls,



load balancers and reverse proxies as they relate to authentication services.
- Experience with PowerShell scripting for automation, administration and reporting.
- Experience monitoring and maintaining highly available infrastructure services.
- Awareness of security hardening, privileged access management and Microsoft security best practices.
- Experience working within ITIL service management processes, including Incident, Problem and Change Management.
- Experience producing technical documentation, operational procedures and knowledge base articles.
- Experience working in secure or regulated environments, preferably supporting Australian Government or other public sector organisations (desirable).
- Understanding of Microsoft identity technologies including Active Directory, Entra ID, Conditional Access and MFA.
