Queensland

This role sits inside a business that was acquired in a significant transaction by one of the world's largest companies, a global heavyweight with operations spanning every major continent. The acquired business continues to operate under its own brand and leadership from its Brisbane headquarters, now sitting within a dedicated global division of the parent.

For the finance team, this means operating within the standards, systems and rigour of a genuine global industrial giant while retaining the culture and identity of the business they built. The finance function manages numerous legal entities across multiple continents, currencies and jurisdictions, and is progressively integrating into the parent's treasury, tax and reporting processes. This is a business mid-transformation, and the Financial Controller coming in will play a central role in how that integration lands.

The Role

Reporting to the Senior Manager Finance, who in turn reports to the Divisional CFO based in the United States, the Group Financial Controller is the primary finance interface between the Brisbane operation and the parent's global finance function. It is a genuinely senior seat, but also a genuinely hands-on one.

The outgoing CFO built and ran this finance function for over a decade, personally approving payroll, reviewing global VAT returns, preparing cash flow models and running treasury processes. That hands-on standard remains the expectation. Someone who expects to arrive at Financial Controller level and purely oversee will find the day-to-day reality of this role a mismatch. Someone who combines Big 4 or mid-tier audit foundations with robust commercial experience in a complex multi-entity environment will hit the ground running.

The role operates across several global time zones and requires comfort navigating a large corporate parent, understanding how to get things done within that structure, and engaging confidently with senior international stakeholders. The international complexity operated from a Brisbane CBD base is genuinely unusual.

Duties will include, but not be limited to:

Provision of timely, materially correct monthly management accounts across all offices, regions and departments, by entity and on a consolidated basis

Uploading and certifying accounts into the parent's global systems on a timely basis

Managing the annual budget process and periodical reforecasts across all global entities, offices, regions and departments

Monthly variance analysis of actuals versus budget or forecast, KPI reporting, expense tracking and executive finance reports

Preparing consolidation entries, foreign exchange revaluations and translations, and transfer pricing intercompany transactions across numerous global entities

Approving global payroll across all entities and overseeing compliance across multiple international jurisdictions

Preparing and lodging BAS, VAT and payroll tax reports, and managing company tax accruals

Overseeing capex, depreciation, amortisation and all property leases across the group

Managing software commission and bonus plan calculations in liaison with HR and payroll

Leading accounting for acquisitions including integration strategy, fixed asset management, cash flow and reporting for acquired entities

Maintaining and developing systems and processes across the group's ERP and reporting platforms

Facilitating internal compliance audits and liaising with the parent's compliance team on annual statutory accounts

Mentoring and managing direct reports, and leading HR outcomes for the finance team

About You

You are a technically strong Financial Controller who has operated in a genuinely complex multi-entity, multi-currency environment and knows how that world works. You understand presentation currency versus functional currency without needing it explained. You are fluent in a complex ERP environment in a consolidation context. You have an audit background from Big 4 or mid-tier and you have spent meaningful time in a commercial environment since, building the practical judgement that audit alone does not give you.

You are also comfortable operating within a large global parent structure.

You understand that getting things done inside a major corporate requires navigating the right channels, building the right relationships across time zones and communicating with confidence at a senior level internationally. That dynamic energises you rather than frustrates you, and you bring the patience and professionalism it requires.

Skills & Experience

To be effective in this role, you will likely bring:

Proven Financial Controller experience across a multi-entity, multi-currency and multi-jurisdiction group

Strong consolidation capability including foreign exchange revaluations, intercompany eliminations and transfer pricing

Strong ERP experience in a consolidation context, with exposure to group consolidation platforms well regarded

IFRS expertise including revenue recognition, lease accounting and financial statement preparation

Big 4 or mid-tier audit background combined with strong commercial experience in a complex environment

Global payroll oversight experience across multiple jurisdictions

The ability to operate confidently within a large corporate parent structure and engage with senior international stakeholders

CA or CPA qualified

What's On Offer

This is a genuinely rare seat at a pivotal moment. The Financial Controller who built and ran this finance function for over a decade is departing following the completion of a landmark acquisition outcome. The person coming in inherits a well-established and capable team, a function that is mid-integration into one of the world's largest industrial companies, and a Brisbane base from which to manage genuine global complexity.

The role offers numerous legal entities across multiple continents, several global time zones, payroll spanning multiple international jurisdictions, and transfer pricing and reporting obligations that few Brisbane-based finance roles can match. It combines the resources, systems and reach of a truly global industrial giant with the culture and identity of a business that has retained its own brand and Brisbane headquarters through the acquisition.

For a technically strong Financial Controller who wants genuine global scope, a business mid-transformation and a seat at the table during a significant integration, this is one worth a serious conversation.
