DJD Brick and Block Laying Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Plant Mechanic to join our team in Caringbah, NSW. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in maintaining and servicing the plant and equipment essential to our operations. As a Plant Mechanic, you will be responsible for ensuring all machinery and equipment operates at peak efficiency, minimising downtime and supporting the smooth running of our construction and building services business.
Key responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and servicing on plant equipment, machinery and vehicles used in brick and block laying operations
- Diagnose mechanical faults and implement timely repairs to minimise operational downtime
- Conduct inspections of equipment to identify wear, damage or potential safety hazards
- Maintain detailed records of all maintenance, repairs and servicing work completed
- Ensure all equipment complies with relevant safety standards and regulations
- Order and manage spare parts inventory as needed for maintenance and repairs
- Liaise with site supervisors and project managers to coordinate maintenance schedules
- Perform preventative maintenance to extend the lifespan of plant and equipment
- Operate diagnostic equipment and utilise technical manuals to troubleshoot mechanical issues
What we're looking for
- Trade qualification in mechanical engineering, automotive mechanics or plant mechanics
- Proven experience as a Plant Mechanic or similar role in the construction, trades or automotive industry
- Strong knowledge of plant equipment, diesel engines and hydraulic systems
- Proficiency with mechanical tools and diagnostic equipment
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and service manuals
- Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to job sites as required
- Current White Card (Construction Induction Card) or willingness to obtain one
- Solid communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
