Bowen Rail Company is growing, and we’re excited to announce the opportunity for new Trainee Drivers to join our Operations team.

About the Role
The Train Driver Traineeships are an 18-month to 2-year program through which you will undertake classroom, practical, and on-the-job training, and be mentored by a qualified Train Driver to support you to become a fully qualified Locomotive Driver.
The Train Driver Traineeship is planned to start early September 2026.
These roles are residentially located which requires you to be based within a safe distance from the Bowen Rail Provisioning Yard.

We are looking for candidates who:
- Are willing to learn and embrace new skills
- Work in a secure and responsible manner
- Interact with others respectfully and collaboratively
- Manage self with resilience and with integrity
- Plan and complete work diligently
- Plan for, and work shift work, and manage fatigue, and
- Commit to a trainee employment contract for up to 2 years
Candidates will also be required to demonstrate that they:
- Hold a current unrestricted Class C Drivers Licence
- Are an Australian Citizen or permanent resident.
- Are willing to participate in and undergo relevant pre-employment requirements if invited to do so.
- These requirements may include:
- Phone interview
- Online Psychometric assessment
- Attending an Engagement Center in Bowen
- Site visit
- Functional/Health Assessment including Cat 1 Rail Medical
- Drug and Alcohol testing, and
- Reference checks
