The purpose of this role is to provide strategic leadership and direction to initiate, develop, implement and support state-wide planning and service strategy as it relates to mental health alcohol and other drug issues with a focus on children and young people. This includes overseeing development and implementation of a range of new initiatives and service models.

Key responsibilities:

- Lead the development, implementation and management of the system strategy, service planning and system redesign as it relates to mental health of children and young people in alignment with national and state planning, strategic frameworks and state and national policy.
- Provide high level advice to the Executive Director MHAODSPB and Department Executive on mental health strategy, service models and programs.
- Represent the Executive Director MHAODSPB and the Strategy Planning and Partnerships Division on relevant national, state and departmental committees, meetings, working groups and forums.
- Interpret, analyse and communicate complex ideas and information to a range of government, private and non-government stakeholders, including consumers and carers.
- Establish and maintain effective communication, negotiation strategies and partnerships with and between key stakeholders.

The essential requirements for this role are:

- Demonstrated achievements in providing strategic leadership and management at a senior level across service strategy, planning and models of service as it relates to health and mental health alcohol and other drugs issues.
- High level strategic, conceptual, analytical and cutting-edge skills with a record of success in the management, negotiation and implementation of national and state health strategy, planning and policy.




- Knowledge and experience working in complex health systems and knowledge of the mental health alcohol and other drugs services system and the interfaces across primary health care, partner agencies and non-government organisations.
- High level ability and achievement in the development and presentation of policy briefs, reports, information and background papers, budget and cabinet submissions and correspondence.
