- Preparing surfaces for painting by scraping, sanding, patching, filling cracks and holes, and applying primers and sealants.
- Selecting and preparing paints, varnishes and other finishes by mixing colours and materials to required specifications.
- Applying paint, varnish, stains and protective coatings using brushes, rollers and spray equipment.
- Hanging wallpaper and applying decorative finishes where required.
- Erecting and dismantling ladders and scaffolding safely to access work areas.
- Protecting adjacent surfaces with drop sheets and masking materials.
- Cleaning, maintaining and storing painting equipment and tools.
- Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with workplace health and safety requirements.
- Inspecting completed work to ensure a high-quality finish.
