RMA Forensic Engineering is seeking an experienced Senior Forensic Engineer to work closely with our engineering team on high-complexity forensic investigations and oversee the delivery of robust repair and remediation design solutions. This role demands advanced forensic engineering expertise, strong technical judgement, commercial awareness, and the ability to produce authoritative, defensible reporting for insurers, legal representatives, asset owners, and industry stakeholders.

Reporting to the National Manager, you will manage complex causation assessments, prepare detailed expert reports, and produce high-quality design packages for the repair of damaged or defective structures.

Key Responsibilities

Forensic, Technical, Operational & Client Delivery

Identify strategic growth opportunities and explore new service pathways across the forensic engineering and building investigation sectors.

Conduct detailed forensic investigations to determine the cause of damage in residential, commercial, and industrial structures.

Inspect and assess existing buildings and structural elements, identifying construction defects, non-compliance, and causation with reference to relevant codes and standards.

Collect and analyse field data using photographic equipment, measurements, sketches, and other investigative tools.

Prepare clear, technically robust causation reports, expert opinions, and Scopes of Works for insurers, loss adjusters, legal representatives, and asset owners.

Develop comprehensive repair and remediation design packages, including calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation for small to medium-scale structures.





Provide construction-phase technical support, responding to queries, clarifying design intent, and ensuring repair works align with engineering requirements.

Ensure all investigations and design outputs meet regulatory, safety, and quality standards, and align with industry best practice.

Maintain strong client engagement, delivering clear communication of findings, recommendations, and technical advice throughout the claims or project lifecycle.

Stay current with emerging forensic engineering methodologies, building codes, insurance industry requirements, and relevant legislative frameworks.

About You

Minimum 5 years’ industry experience, ideally with strong exposure to forensic engineering and structural diagnostics.

Bachelor’s degree in civil or Structural Engineering.

Skilled membership: MIEAust (Engineers Australia).

Chartered Engineer (CPEng) and/or National Engineering Register (NER) registration highly desirable.

Interstate accreditations such as RPEQ (Queensland) or RPEV (Victoria) highly desirable.

Proficiency with structural design software desirable.

Strong understanding of the insurance claims lifecycle, including legislative frameworks, building codes, and industry standards.

Excellent technical writing skills with the ability to produce clear, defensible expert reports.

Must have Full working rights in Australia.
