About the role
Our Company is seeking a Dispatch Controller to join our team on a part-time basis in Toowoomba, QLD. This role is essential to our operations, serving as the central communication hub between our customers, drivers, and management. The Dispatch Controller ensures efficient routing, timely service delivery, and optimal resource allocation in our towing business. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining our reputation for reliability and customer satisfaction within the transport and logistics industry.
Key responsibilities
- Receiving and processing incoming service requests from customers via phone, email, and digital platforms
- Analysing job requirements and efficiently allocating tasks to available drivers and technicians based on location, skillset, and vehicle availability
- Creating and optimising dispatch schedules to minimise response times and travel distances
- Communicating job details, destinations, and special instructions to drivers and field personnel in real-time
- Tracking vehicle locations and job progress using dispatch management systems and GPS technology
- Managing emergency calls and prioritising urgent requests appropriately
- Maintaining accurate records of all dispatched jobs, including times, locations, and outcomes
- Liaising between customers and field teams to provide updates on job status and estimated arrival times
- Resolving conflicts or issues that arise during service delivery, escalating to management when necessary
- Monitoring fleet performance metrics and identifying opportunities for improved efficiency
What we’re looking for
- Proven experience as a dispatch controller or in a similar logistics coordination role within the transport or warehousing sector
- Strong knowledge of dispatch management systems and GPS tracking software
- Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities,
with the capacity to handle multiple requests simultaneously
- Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and staff
- Sound problem-solving capabilities and the ability to make quick, effective decisions under pressure
- Proficiency with computer systems and relevant dispatch or fleet management software
- Knowledge of local Toowoomba geography and surrounding areas would be advantageous
- A customer-focused approach with a commitment to delivering excellent service
- Reliability and a strong work ethic, with the ability to work flexibly as required for part-time hours
- 11. Valid Australian truck licence is preferred
