Care and Connect Services and Consulting (CCSC) are a young company, but we're making a big difference in the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people in care! We are committed to enhancing the living arrangements of children and young people in care and aim to make a positive difference in their lives by providing the children and young people with a sense of family, community, cultural connection, and the ability to heal and reconnect with their families by providing culturally appropriate care, outreach support and placement support.

Our staff predominately work in residential type environments including Outreach Support, Youth Residential Out of Home Care as well as supporting emergency placements in crisis accommodation, supervised family contact and placement support arrangements.

About the role:

As a Youth Worker within CCSC, you will play a vital role in supporting young people facing various challenges within a residential care setting. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and young people.

A day in the role of aYouth Workermay include teaching practical and social skills, supporting young people to manage complex behaviours, planning or attending activities and following daily routines to promote life-skills development whilst providing a nurturing, safe and clean home environment. No two days will be the same!

The ideal person for this role would be organised, adaptable, agile in their approach and open to learning. You will have the ability and skills to work with a range of stakeholders including key partners, CCSC staff and clients.





Key Responsibilities:

- Provide direct support to young people in residential care settings, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Support the development of social and interpersonal skills through engaging activities and programmes.
- Build rapport and maintain qualified boundaries with young people to foster trust and respect.
- Implement Trauma Informed Care principles in all interactions and interventions.
- Monitor and document the progress of young people, reporting any concerns to the appropriate personnel.
- Collaborate with other professionals and agencies to ensure comprehensive support for young people.
- Encourage independent living skills including but not limited to, cooking, meal planning, budgeting, shopping, and cleaning Demonstrated ability to openly engage and build trust with young people from diverse backgrounds.
- Ensure services are community-driven and aligned with Aboriginal values and priorities.

Mandatory Requirements:

- Hold and maintain a full Australian Driver’s License (minimum P2 license)
- This position requires a minimum of a Certificate 4 in Child, Youth and Family Intervention or other relevant and recognised sector qualification, along with a valid Paid (P) Working with A QLD Working with Children (Blue Card)
- Experience working with children and young people in residential care settings
- Experience supporting young people with complex and challenging behaviours
- Ability to build rapport and maintain professional boundaries with young people
- Essential experience needs to have had in working with Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander people.
- Knowledge of Trauma Informed Care principles
