Value Mart PTY LTD Key Responsibilities

- Organise, manage and control the daily operations of the retail store.
- Determine appropriate product ranges, stock levels, pricing and customer service standards.
- Develop and implement purchasing, merchandising and promotional strategies.
- Monitor customer demand and adjust the store's product mix accordingly.
- Source products, negotiate with suppliers and place stock orders.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels and ensure consistent product availability.
- Oversee stock receiving, rotation, storage and expiry-date controls.
- Monitor stock movements, wastage, shrinkage and inventory discrepancies.
- Establish and monitor daily, weekly and monthly sales, gross-profit and operational targets.
- Analyse sales results, product margins, labour costs and operating expenses.
- Prepare regular sales, stock, staffing and business-performance reports.
- Assist with store budgeting, expense control and profitability management.
- Ensure products are correctly priced, displayed and merchandised.
- Plan and implement promotions and local marketing activities.
- Manage store opening and closing procedures.
- Oversee cash handling, register reconciliation, banking and financial transaction records.
- Recruit, train, supervise and support retail employees.
- Prepare staff rosters and allocate duties based on operational requirements.
- Monitor staff attendance, productivity, service standards and performance.
- Conduct staff training and performance discussions where required.




- Develop and implement store procedures to improve operational efficiency.
- Handle customer enquiries, feedback and complaints professionally.
- Maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and service providers.
- Ensure the store remains clean, organised, secure and professionally presented.
- Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety, food safety, hygiene, employment and retail regulatory requirements.
- Oversee store security, cash-control and loss-prevention procedures.

Skills and Experience

The successful applicant should have:

- A relevant Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Retail Management, Business Management or a related discipline; or substantial relevant retail management experience.
- At least three years of relevant retail or store-management experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing the operations of a retail business.
- Experience supervising, rostering, training and managing employees.
- Robust knowledge of inventory control, supplier ordering and merchandising.
- Experience monitoring sales, gross profit, labour costs and operating expenses.
- Strong cash-management and register-reconciliation experience.
- The ability to analyse business results and implement performance improvements.
- Strong leadership, organisational and time-management skills.




- Excellent customer-service and complaint-resolution abilities.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety, food hygiene and retail-security requirements.
- Competence using point-of-sale, inventory and business-reporting systems.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays when required.

The role includes managing employees, determining product ranges and stock levels, overseeing purchasing and merchandising, monitoring financial performance and implementing strategies to improve sales, profitability and operational efficiency.
