About the role

We are hiring a Technical Team Lead for Professional Services: the senior engineer accountable for the technical direction and quality of the customer-funded software we build. The role leads a team of three or four developers together with our Progress DBA / Technical Consultant.

This is a hands-on leadership position. You will design and write software across the full stack, from the database and server-side business logic through integrations to the user interface, and you will deploy and support those solutions in live customer environments.

Work scheduling, resource allocation and customer timeline commitments are owned by the project manager / coordinator. This role owns technical direction, delivery quality and the development of the team.

Platform direction

The MomentumPro core is built on Progress OpenEdge and will remain so. It holds three decades of wholesale and distribution business logic that our customers depend on every day, and Progress expertise is central to this role.

The wider platform is changing.



ERP Plus and our ecommerce products are built on .NET, we are taking the application to the browser, migrating customer environments to the cloud and reducing our dependence on Terminal Services. Professional Services often delivers that change ahead of the core product, because customers commission it before general release. The role therefore combines deep Progress work with substantial exposure to the newer stack.

What you will be doing

- Setting architecture, design and coding standards for customer solutions, and ensuring they are applied consistently
- Designing, developing and reviewing code across the full stack, and deploying and supporting it in live customer environments
- Leading, mentoring and developing the Professional Services developers and the Progress DBA / Technical Consultant, including one-on-ones, objective setting and performance feedback
- Supporting the DBA / Technical Consultant on database configuration, tuning, deployment and problem resolution
- Contributing field experience to Product Development as input to product design, standards and direction
- Identifying and delivering improvements and automation in our development, deployment and support processes
- Working with our AI champion to identify, trial and embed AI-enabled tools and practices across the team
- Partnering with the project manager / coordinator on planning and prioritisation, and acting as the escalation point on how work is carried outKeeping project leads and customers informed, and raising scope, budget and timeline concerns early

What you will bring





- A minimum of 5 years commercial programming experience, including demonstrated technical leadership or team lead responsibility
- Proven ability to lead, mentor and develop a technical team
- Experience with Progress OpenEdge ABL and OpenEdge ADM2
- Working knowledge of Progress database administration, tuning, backup and deployment, sufficient to oversee and support a DBA / Technical Consultant
- Full-stack capability across database, server-side business logic, integrations and user interface, combined with the implementation knowledge to deploy and support solutions in customer production environments
- A sound understanding of distributed systems (n-tier) architecture, programming principles, development methodologies and tool sets
- Demonstrated interest in process automation and in applying AI tools to improve ways of working
- Experience in professional environments with a strong customer service orientation, working directly with customers
- Highly developed analytical and problem solving skills, with high attention to detail and a methodical, rigorous approach
- Effective written and verbal communication, and experience creating and maintaining documentation
- Tertiary qualification in information technology, computer science, information systems or equivalent; leadership or project management training desirable
- Working knowledge of UNIX / Linux and Windows platforms is an advantage
- Australian work authorisation at the time of application
