Maintenance Coordinator – Fixed/ Mobile Plant & Material Handling

Brisbane Location | Salary $150,000 + KPI Bonuses

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Coordinator with a strong mechanical maintenance background to support the safe and effective execution of maintenance projects and contractor-led works at a large material handling operation in Brisbane.

This is a hands‑on coordination role suited to a proactive, professional, and detail‑oriented individual who can oversee planned maintenance activities, manage contractors, coordinate permits and isolations, and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with site requirements.

About the Role

Working closely with the Maintenance Planner, operations personnel, maintenance teams, and external contractors, you will coordinate the delivery of planned maintenance activities and site maintenance projects.

You will be responsible for ensuring work is properly communicated, safely prepared, appropriately resourced, and completed in line with maintenance plans, operational requirements, site procedures and quality expectations.

The role will involve exposure to fixed and mobile plant and bulk material handling equipment, including conveyors, pumps, pipelines, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, rotating equipment, and associated site infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate the safe execution of planned maintenance activities and site maintenance projects.

Coordinate external contractors engaged to complete maintenance and project work.

Ensure maintenance activities are delivered in accordance with approved maintenance plans, operational requirements and site procedures.

Liaise closely with the Maintenance Planner to support the successful delivery of planned maintenance activities.

Coordinate pre‑start meetings and communicate daily work requirements to employees and contractors.

Arrange and verify required permits, equipment isolations and switch‑on or switch‑off activities.

Confirm that appropriate labour, parts, tooling, equipment and access requirements are available before work commences.

Monitor work progress to ensure maintenance activities remain on schedule and meet required quality standards.





Coordinate maintenance activities with operational requirements to minimise equipment downtime and disruption.

Identify and escape safety, quality, resource or scheduling issues that may affect maintenance delivery.

Participate in task risk assessments, job safety reviews and other site risk‑management processes.

Complete regular safety interactions, workplace inspections and hazard inspections.

Verify that work has been completed correctly and that plant and equipment are safe to return to service.

Ensure maintenance management systems are updated with relevant work orders, progress information and project details.

Maintain accurate records relating to contractor activities, permits, inspections and work completion.

Provide hands‑on mechanical maintenance support where required and within the individual’s level of competency.

Promote a strong safety culture and take personal responsibility for maintaining a safe working environment.

Plant and Equipment Exposure

The successful applicant may coordinate maintenance activities involving:

Conveyors and bulk material handling systems

Fixed plant and associated infrastructure

Pumps, valves and pipelines

Gearboxes, bearings, drives and rotating equipment

Hydraulic and pneumatic systems

Mobile plant and support equipment

Mechanical guarding and access systems

Planned shutdown and outage activities

Preventative and corrective maintenance programs

About You

The ideal applicant will have:

Demonstrated experience working in a heavy industrial, mining, construction, ports, bulk handling or similar maintenance workplace.

A strong mechanical mindset and the ability to understand, coordinate and oversee mechanical maintenance activities.

Previous experience in a Maintenance Coordinator, Maintenance Supervisor or similar role.

A relevant mechanical trade qualification is highly desirable.





Experience coordinating external contractors and multiple maintenance work fronts.

Experience with permit‑to‑work systems, plant isolations and verification processes.

A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.

The confidence to lead pre‑start meetings and communicate expectations clearly.

The ability to monitor work progress and address safety, quality or scheduling concerns.

Sound computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.

Experience using computerised maintenance management systems to manage work orders and maintenance information.

Strong planning, organisational and time‑management skills.

Effective written and verbal communication skills.

The ability to build professional working relationships with maintenance personnel, contractors, supervisors and operational stakeholders.

A proactive, energetic and solutions‑focused approach.

Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accurate documentation.

A professional and mature approach to safety, contractor management and maintenance execution.

Licences and Certifications

Applicants should hold:

A current Australian Driver Licence

High Risk Work Licence – Forklift

High Risk Work Licence – Elevating Work Platform

The following certifications are desirable:

Working Safely at Heights

Confined Space Entry

Current First Aid and CPR

Isolation, permit‑to‑work or site‑authorisation training
