Commissioning Engineer – Electrical & Instrumentation

Rockhampton Region | 2:1 Roster | Project through to late 2026

CE Group is a specialist Electrical and Instrumentation contractor delivering complex mining, energy, infrastructure and industrial projects across Australia. We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to join our team on a new gold mine tailings processing plant near Rockhampton.

The Opportunity This is a hands-on, site-based position supporting the testing, commissioning and handover of CE Group’s complete electrical and instrumentation package.

The scope includes instrumentation and control systems, field devices, communications, switchrooms, motor control centres and associated LV, MV and HV electrical systems.

Working a 2:1 roster, you will join an established project team with work expected to continue through to late 2026.

What You’ll Be Doing

- Plan and coordinate pre-commissioning, energisation, functional testing and handover activities across instrumentation, control, LV, MV and HV systems.
- Manage commissioning documentation, including test packs, check sheets, punch lists, completions records,



loop checks and inspection and test records.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and coordinate with construction, engineering, vendors and the client to achieve protected and timely system completion.

What We’re Looking For

- A qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, with commissioning experience in mining, mineral processing or heavy industrial projects.
- Strong technical knowledge of instrumentation, control systems, field devices, industrial communications and LV, MV and HV electrical systems.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating energisation, functional testing, defect close-out and system handover in a live project environment.

Highly Regarded

- Previous commissioning experience on a new processing plant or major greenfield mining project.
- Experience with PLC and SCADA interfaces, loop checking, cause-and-effect testing and control-system validation.
- Familiarity with completions systems, commissioning schedules, permit processes and staged system handover.
