We are exclusively recruiting for an experienced and commercially minded Head of Legal to join a highly respected medical reserarch institute.

This is a rare opportunity to step into a senior in-house role where you will provide strategic legal advice, support executive decision-making, and help shape risk, governance, and commercial outcomes across the business.

You will act as a trusted adviser to senior leaders and stakeholders, managing a broad and diverse portfolio of legal matters. The role spans commercial contracts, research and IP-related agreements, privacy, compliance, policy, board support, and external counsel management.

Key responsibilities

- Provide high-quality legal advice to executive leadership, the Board, and key stakeholders.
- Draft, review,



and negotiate a wide range of commercial, research, IP, procurement, and funding agreements.
- Oversee compliance obligations, including privacy, regulatory, and policy matters.
- Manage legal risk, and support governance requirements.
- Manage external legal advisers and legal systems, including contracts workflow.

About you

- Admitted as a legal practitioner with a current NSW practising certificate.
- Senior legal experience, ideally gained in a law firm or in-house legal team.
- Must have IP experience.
- Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation, and communication skills.
- A collaborative, pragmatic, and commercially focused approach.
