Who we are

Studio Sabat is a boutique residential architecture practice in Sydney. We do high-end residential alts+adds, new builds, and interiors for clients who care about how they actually LIVE in a space, not just how it photographs.

Right now: Principal Architect + Architectural Designer + Head of Operations + Head of Marketing.

We're not another 50-person practice where you'll be the 47th name on the org chart. This is boutique on purpose. Every project you touch, you'll lead.

What you'll actually do

- Run your own projects end-to-end. Not "assist." Not "support." Own them.

- Meet clients. Present concepts. Have the hard conversations.

- Review Architectural Designer's work. Mentor junior team. Set the technical standard.

- Work on Revit models, details and construction drawings, setting standards.

- Coordinate consultants, respond to Council RFIs, run site meetings with builders.

- Manage contract administration during construction - variations, RFIs.

- Develop concepts alongside Fatemeh and translate the vision into buildable, beautiful documentation.

What you WON'T do:

- Sit in traffic to a corporate CBD tower every morning

- Wait 5 years for someone to retire before you get to lead

- Draw someone else's concept forever

- Get lost in the machine

Why this role is different

- Work towards an associate role.



This role is built with the explicit expectation that you'll step up as the design lead in the studio. That's not a "hopefully one day" - it's baked into the hire.

- You’ll influence the studio, not just the projects. How we work, how we present, how we scale. Your voice matters from day one.

- Real mentorship. 60 minutes 1:1 with Fatemeh every week for your first 6 months.

Who you are

- Close to becoming a NSW-registered Architect or already registered

- 5-8 years post-graduation experience

- Confident client-facing - you can run a design meeting, present concepts, and handle push-back without losing the room

- Strong technical documentation background (Revit is a must - you need to be an advanced user and hands on with the program. All documentation takes place in Revit)

- Comfortable with high-end residential clients - you know the difference between an $800k renovation client and a $5M new build client, and how to speak to both

- You're someone who designs interiors, not one who hands them off. Exteriors and interiors are one integrated whole - and you'll lead both.

- Australian working rights

Who you're NOT

- A clock-puncher. If you count minutes, this isn't for you.

- Someone who needs a 40-person practice to feel safe.

- Allergic to accountability. You'll own outcomes here.

- Purely a documenter. If drawing is all you love, we love you - but this isn't the right seat.

- Someone who wants to disappear. We see you. We invest in you. That cuts both ways.

What we offer

- Salary: $100k - $130k + super, based on experience and registration status

- Flexible hybrid - studio when it matters, remote when it doesn't
