Uncle Brian’s Tours is looking for an experienced tourism professional to join our Cairns team in a full‑time Tour Operations & Dispatch role.

This is a practical, fast‑paced position at the heart of our daily tour operations. You’ll play an key role in ensuring our vehicles, guides and tours are prepared, compliant and ready to operate safely and smoothly each day.

We’re looking for someone who understands tourism from the ground up — ideally with previous experience in Operations or an experienced Tour Guide with strong local knowledge, practical mechanical ability and a genuine commitment to safety and compliance who is ready to take the next step into a broader operational role.

This is not a management position. It’s a hands‑on role for someone who enjoys taking ownership, solving problems and being an integral part of a busy tourism operation.

This role will suit someone who already understands the realities of tour operations. You’re proactive, organised and practical. You notice when something needs attention and take responsibility for getting it sorted. You can think ahead, prioritise competing demands and remain calm when plans inevitably change.

Most importantly, you understand that safety and compliance come first. You take vehicle safety, driver responsibilities, operational procedures and guest wellbeing seriously.

THE ROLE

No two days in tourism are exactly the same, but your key responsibilities will include:

Full time | Cairns | Uncle Brian’s Tours

- Coordinating daily tour dispatch and ensuring vehicles, guides and operational requirements are ready for departure
- Supporting day‑to‑day tour logistics, vehicle movements and operational planning
- Maintaining a strong focus on safety, compliance and operational procedures




- Conducting vehicle checks, identifying basic mechanical issues and ensuring concerns are escalated and addressed appropriately
- Coordinating vehicle servicing, repairs, maintenance and presentation
- Maintaining accurate operational, vehicle and compliance records as required
- Supporting our Tour Guides with the information, equipment and resources they need to deliver safe and exceptional guest experiences
- Responding to operational challenges calmly and finding practical solutions in a fast‑moving environment
- Tour guiding when required, including stepping in to support the team during operational changes, leave or busy periods
- Assisting with vehicle and equipment cleaning, basic maintenance and organisation
- Coordinating operational purchasing and supplies as required
- Using your knowledge of Cairns, the Atherton Tablelands, Daintree and surrounding touring regions to support effective daily operations
- Working closely with the wider Uncle Brian’s team to keep our operation safe, organised and running smoothly
- Being willing to jump in wherever needed — because in tourism, adaptability matters

To be successful, you’ll bring:

- Previous professional Tour Guiding experience
- Strong experience or understanding of tourism and day‑to‑day tour operations
- A current MR Driver Licence
- Current Queensland Driver Authorisation (DA)
- Ability to satisfy required criminal history/background checks




- Strong practical mechanical knowledge and confidence around vehicles
- A sound understanding of vehicle safety, pre‑departure checks and maintenance requirements
- Strong knowledge of Cairns, the Atherton Tablelands, Daintree and the wider Far North Queensland touring region
- A demonstrated commitment to workplace safety, transport compliance and safe tourism operations
- Excellent organisational and logistical skills
- Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure
- Clear and confident communication skills
- A flexible, adaptable and team‑focused approach
- A genuine willingness to be hands‑on and help wherever the operation needs you
- Current First Aid & CPR
