Mary Brooksbank School is a dedicated centre of educational excellence established on the 18th of August 1987, specifically catering to students with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities, often accompanied by complex medical, behavioural and emotional needs. In 2026, we serve a diverse student population of 126 students, 10% of whom are from First Nations backgrounds, 64% from language backgrounds other than English, across 20 classes ranging from Kindergarten to Year 12 using Positive Behaviour for Learning and Play-Based Learning principles to foster an inclusive and supportive environment. The successful applicant will work with a highly motivated team to ensure quality teaching and learning is provided for students with a range of learning needs in a supported environment. There is a strong focus on individualised student learning programs and an emphasis on developing students communication and community access abilities.

Specific Selection Criteria

1. 1.Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with Moderate Intellectual Disability and Severe Intellectual Disability ( Primary and Secondary ) .
2. 2. Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and monitor personalised learning plans, behaviour support plans, health care plans and other plans to support individual student needs.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching chance.
