Rogers Construction Group (RCG) is a commercial building and construction business operating across NSW and Victoria, with two divisions: Projects (large commercial construction) and Minor Works (high-volume maintenance and fitout). We run on the EOS/Traction operating model and are scaling rapidly across a multi-office footprint.

The Role

As we grow, we are establishing a Financial Controller position to lead the day-to-day finance function and own the integrity of our financial operations end to end. Reporting to the CFO, you will bring statutory and compliance work in-house, own the finance calendar, and manage the monthly and annual close. This is a hands-on leadership role with clear ownership and a direct line to the CFO.

Key Responsibilities

- Own the end-to-end monthly and annual financial close, including the close calendar, task sequencing and deadline management.
- Prepare and lodge monthly Business Activity Statements (BAS) in-house, including GST reconciliation and PAYG withholding.
- Manage the Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) process end to end, including the annual return and year-end obligations.
- Act as the primary point of liaison with the ATO on lodgements, correspondence and compliance matters.
- Oversee end-to-end payroll processing and manage payroll tax obligations across NSW and Victoria, including monthly returns and annual reconciliation.
- Own and maintain the finance calendar, ensuring all statutory, reporting and internal deadlines are met.
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions,



including aged debtor and creditor management.
- Manage the banking system and banking relationships, and review and approve payments for authorisation in line with the delegation of authority and segregation-of-duties controls.
- Supervise and develop the finance team.
- Support the CFO with monthly management reporting, cash flow forecasting and working capital oversight.
- Maintain and strengthen financial controls, process documentation and system integrity across our software stack.

Skills and Experience

- CA or CPA qualified (or in the final stages of qualification). Must have Construction experience.
- Demonstrated experience owning a monthly and annual close in a mid-sized business, ideally in construction or a project-based industry.
- Strong working knowledge of Australian tax compliance: BAS, GST, FBT, PAYG and payroll tax across multiple states.
- Hands-on experience with payroll processing and payroll tax lodgement.
- Confident liaising directly with the ATO, ASIC and external advisers.
- Experience leading or supervising a small finance team.
- Advanced Excel; experience with ERP systems (Premier or equivalent) and construction platforms highly regarded.
- High attention to detail, strong process discipline and the ability to work autonomously in a rapid-paced, growing business.
