Outstanding Construction is on the hunt for a Leading Hand Carpenter who's ready to own the standard on site.

This isn't an entry point into leadership - it's for someone who already leads. You'll support site supervisor and assist to run the day-to-day on site: setting the pace, checking the work, mentoring the team, and making sure every stage reflects the standard we promise our clients. If you take pride in premium carpentry, spot problems before they become expensive, and back your apprentices and carpenters every day, we want to hear from you.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

- Execution & Quality - premium carpentry to the Outstanding Construction standard, plans read right the first time, and rework kept at zero
- Site Discipline & Safety - site opened safely, run clean, and locked up every afternoon; PPE and SWMS are non-negotiable
- Team Leadership & Culture - daily mentoring for apprentices and carpenters, leading by example and setting the tone
- Efficiency & Planning - work planned 2-3 days ahead, materials ordered before they're needed, bottlenecks spotted early
- Daily Reporting & Communication - timesheets done daily, issues raised early,



and your Site Supervisor always knows where things stand

About you:

- Qualified carpenter with genuine experience in carry out project from footings to completion
- Current White Card
- Own reliable trade vehicle and/or trailer and valid driver's licence
- Trade vehicle or trailer that has the capacity to carry 5.4m lengths of timber and sheet of ply
- Own tools and PPE
- Comfortable carrying out tasks unsupervised and making the calls
- A natural leader who mentors without being asked - and gets a kick out of seeing apprentices improve
- Excellent communicator with the team, other trades and clients
- High attention to detail and no tolerance for sloppy work or unresolved defects
- Organised and forward-thinking - always 2-3 days ahead, never caught out
- Calm under pressure with a solutions-first mindset when things don't go to plan
- The ideal candidate is also comfortable turning a hand to related trades - concreting, plaster sheeting or roofing - if the project calls for it.
- Must have a full set of own tools for role and take pride in maintaining own tools.
