The Opportunity
Join a leading financial services organisation in a role that will strengthen your legal career.
Duration: 3-6 months Arrangement: Full time (hybrid) Location: Sydney
About You
Your Experience & Expertise:
- Experience working in an in-house legal, compliance, risk or regulatory function, ideally within financial services
- Demonstrated experience assessing regulatory incidents, compliance issues or potential breaches against applicable legal and compliance obligations
- Experience drafting breach reports, compliance notices, regulatory notifications or incident reports for regulators such as ASIC or APRAStrong understanding of financial services regulatory obligations, particularly in relation to breach reporting, incident assessment and compliance frameworks
- Familiarity with superannuation, insurance, wealth management, investment funds or financial advice businesses would be highly advantageous
- Experience working with external or related stakeholders, such as insurance brokers, superannuation trustees, responsible entities and financial advisory businesses
- Ability to manage overflow incident assessment work during periods of increased reporting or system transition activity
Your Skills & Attributes:
- Robust regulatory judgement and the ability to assess whether incidents may constitute breaches of compliance obligations
- Strong drafting skills, including the ability to prepare clear incident reports, breach reports,
compliance notices and regulator-facing correspondence
- Sound knowledge of financial services compliance and regulatory risk principles
- Ability to work efficiently through a high volume of incident assessments or overflow matters
- Confidence liaising with internal business teams, legal, compliance, risk and senior stakeholders
Requirements:
- Current Australian practising certificate
- Right to live and work in Australia
