Alto Pennant Hills Body Shop is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Vehicle Estimator and Damage Assessor to join our team on a full-time basis at our Pennant Hills NSW location. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for accurately assessing vehicle damage, preparing comprehensive repair estimates, and liaising with customers, insurers, and repair teams. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring that every vehicle that comes through our service centre receives a thorough evaluation and fair quote, maintaining our reputation for excellence in the automotive industry. This position is critical to our operations, as accurate estimates directly impact customer satisfaction, profitability, and our relationship with insurance partners.

Key responsibilities

- Conduct thorough and accurate damage assessments on vehicles, documenting all visible and structural damage
- Prepare detailed and professional repair estimates using industry-standard estimation software and tools
- Inspect vehicles for mechanical, electrical and body damage to determine the scope of repairs required
- Communicate clearly with customers, explaining damage assessments and repair costs in an understandable manner
- Liaise with insurance companies and assessors regarding claim validation and repair authorisation
- Maintain accurate records of all estimates and assessments, ensuring compliance with company and industry standards
- Identify opportunities to recommend additional repairs or maintenance to customers based on vehicle condition




- Collaborate with workshop managers and technicians to ensure estimates align with actual repair requirements
- Stay updated on vehicle specifications, repair procedures and industry best practices across various Toyota models and other makes
- Contribute to continuous improvement of estimation processes and departmental efficiency

What we're looking for

- Trade qualification or formal training in automotive mechanics, panel beating or vehicle assessment
- Proven experience as a vehicle estimator, damage assessor or in a similar automotive trade role (minimum 3-5 years preferred)
- Proficiency with automotive estimation software and digital assessment tools
- Strong knowledge of vehicle construction, repair procedures and parts pricing
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to accurately assess and document damage
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with customers, insurers and internal teams
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple assessments simultaneously
- Current driver's licence and reliable transport
- Familiarity with insurance claim processes and procedures
- Professional appearance and customer-focused approach
- Experience with prestige and volume brand vehicles is advantageous
