About the role

We are seeking an experienced and professional HC Truck and Dog Driver to join our team at Compton Transport in Wollongong, NSW. This position will lead to full time work for the right operator that offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic transport operation. You will be responsible for safely operating articulated trucks with trailers across regional and city routes, ensuring timely delivery of freight whilst maintaining our high safety standards and customer service excellence.

What you'll be doing

- Operating Heavy Combination (HC) trucks and dog trailers safely and efficiently across designated routes

- Conducting pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the truck and trailers are in proper working condition

- Planning and executing efficient routes whilst adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations

- Maintaining accurate logbooks, trip sheets and delivery documentation

- Communicating effectively with dispatch,



customers and other team members regarding delivery schedules and any issues that arise

- Adhering to all company policies, procedures and Australian road transport regulations

- Keeping the truck and trailers clean and well-maintained

- Managing fatigue responsibly and maintaining compliance with work and rest period regulations

What we're looking for

- Valid Heavy Combination (HC) driver's licence, with a clean driving record

- Minimum 2 years' experience driving HC trucks and dog trailers

- Knowledge of road transport regulations and fatigue management legislation

- Excellent safety awareness and commitment to safe driving practices

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

- Reliability, punctuality and professional demeanour

- Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to identify vehicle defects

- Willingness to undertake additional training or certifications as required

- Experience with transport management systems or digital logbooks is desirable
