You will:
- Supervise and lead security officers on shift.
- Conduct shift briefings and debriefings.
- Allocate patrols and daily tasks.
- Monitor staff performance and provide coaching.
- Ensure adequate staffing and manage breaks.
- Conduct routine security inspections.
- Identify hazards and recommend improvements.
- Monitor high-risk areas.
- Assist with emergency planning.
Training
- Train new security officers.
- Mentor team members.
- Ensure mandatory training remains current.
Reporting & Administration
- Complete incident reports.
- Maintain occurrence books and shift logs.
- Record maintenance and safety issues.
- Produce daily operational reports.
- Escalate significant incidents to centre management.
Compliance
- Ensure compliance with:
- Work Health and Safety (WHS)
- Emergency Management Procedures
- Company SOPs
- Client policies
- Licensing requirements
Control Room Operations
- Monitor CCTV and alarm systems.
- Manage access control systems.
- Coordinate radio communications.
- Dispatch officers to incidents.
- Build positive relationships with retailers.
- Monitor contractor compliance with centre procedures.
- Assist with loading dock and after-hours access.
Customer Service
- Provide assistance to customers and retailers.
- Resolve complaints professionally.
- Assist with lost property and customer enquiries.
- Maintain a visible and approachable presence.
- Respond to thefts, assaults, disturbances, missing children, and suspicious packages.
- Liaise with police, ambulance, and fire services.
- Secure crime scenes when required.
- Prepare detailed incident reports and evidence.
- Review CCTV footage and preserve recordings.
Safety & Security
- Patrol the shopping centre and identify security risks.
- Respond to emergencies, alarms, incidents, and suspicious behaviour.
- Coordinate responses to medical emergencies, fires, evacuations, and lockdowns.
- Ensure emergency equipment is operational.
- Enforce centre rules and security procedures.
About You:
- Valid State Security Licence (mandatory)
- Current Senior First Aid Certificate (mandatory)
- Security experience in Retail or Commercial environments
- Control room experience (for Control Rooms Operators only)
- Experience in customer service
- Ability to work collaboratively as a team player
- Be well presented with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work flexible hours across a 24/7 roster,
including weekends and public holidays
- Strong leadership and decision-making.
- Conflict resolution and de-escalation.
- CCTV and security systems knowledge.
- Time management.
- Emergency response coordination.
- Problem-solving under pressure.
