Australian Off Road is seeking an experienced Planning & Product Configuration Lead to coordinate production planning, customer order readiness and product configuration across our manufacturing operations.
Reporting to the Head of Operations, this role connects Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, Stores, Production, Quality and Logistics. You will help ensure approved customer orders are correctly configured, supported by accurate manufacturing data and released to production at the right time.
This position would suit an experienced production planner, master scheduler or manufacturing coordinator who enjoys working across multiple departments and improving how information flows from customer order through to production.
Key responsibilities
Maintain the rolling Master Production Schedule and convert approved customer demand into achievable monthly, weekly and build-sequence plans.
Review customer orders for manufacturing readiness, ensuring configurations, approvals, BOMs, materials, drawings and build instructions are complete before Manufacturing Orders are released.
Identify production constraints involving labour, workstations, suppliers, sheet metal, materials and critical components, and recommend practical recovery actions.
Maintain accurate product configurations, manufacturing BOMs, item master data, revisions and production documentation across Fishbowl ERP, the Sales Portal and related systems.
Coordinate the implementation of approved engineering changes, new product options, custom work and production revisions, ensuring changes are introduced at the correct build point.
Work with Purchasing, Stores, Production and suppliers to confirm material availability, required quantities, delivery timing and potential shortages.
Monitor production performance, schedule adherence, order readiness, BOM accuracy and delivery risks,
and communicate significant issues to the appropriate stakeholders.
Support continuous improvement of production-planning, product-configuration, manufacturing-release and master-data processes.
About you
You will be organised, analytical and comfortable working across several departments in a changing manufacturing workplace.
You will be able to balance customer delivery requirements with production capacity, material availability and approved product configurations.
At least three to five years’ experience in production planning, master scheduling, manufacturing coordination, product configuration or a related role.
Experience developing and maintaining production schedules using capacity, material availability and delivery requirements.
Practical experience with manufacturing BOMs, routings, item master data, revisions and Manufacturing or Work Orders.
Experience using an ERP or MRP system within a manufacturing environment.
Working knowledge of product configuration, document control or engineering change processes.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including lookups, data validation, pivot tables and operational data analysis.
Strong problem-solving, prioritisation and stakeholder-management skills.
High attention to detail and the ability to follow issues through to completion.
Highly regarded
Experience in caravan, automotive, trailer, marine, fabrication, vehicle or engineer-to-order manufacturing.
Experience using Fishbowl ERP.
Experience with configurable sales-order or product-portal systems.
Qualifications in supply chain, operations, engineering, manufacturing, business systems or a related discipline.
Experience working with international suppliers or offshore manufacturing partners.
Exposure to Lean manufacturing, root-cause analysis, process mapping or continuous improvement.
