Technical Consultant: Network and Security

Aryon is a Queensland based professional and managed IT services firm. We help clients make their technology more secure, resilient, and easier to manage through strong architecture, disciplined delivery, and long term trusted advice.

Our work sits where networking, cyber security, cloud, and modern workplace capability intersect. We are particularly strong in education, health, government adjacent, not for profit, and mid market environments where reliability, clarity, and risk reduction matter.

At Aryon, consultants are expected to be more than installers. We value people who can understand the client environment, design practical solutions, document their work properly, communicate clearly, and own outcomes from discovery through to handover.

About Aryon

The opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Technical Consultant to join our Professional Services and Advisory team, with a focus on network and security project delivery.

This is a hands on, client facing role for someone who enjoys complex technical work and wants more ownership than a conventional support or systems administration role usually provides. You will work on scoped projects, technical designs, implementation, documentation, and client handover across a range of environments.

The ideal candidate will bring depth in enterprise networking and security, especially across switching, wireless, segmentation, firewalling, remote access, and identity aware network control. Experience with HPE Aruba Networking, Aruba Central, ClearPass, Fortinet, Sophos, Palo Alto or similar platforms will be highly regarded.

What you will do

- Lead and deliver network and security projects across client environments, including discovery, design, implementation, testing, documentation,

and handover.
- Design and implement switching, routing, wireless, VLAN, VPN, segmentation, and edge security solutions.
- Deploy and configure firewall and security platforms, including Fortinet, Sophos, Palo Alto or equivalent technologies.
- Contribute to technical design workshops with clients and translate business requirements into practical technical outcomes.
- Produce high quality documentation, including high level designs, low level designs, implementation plans, test plans, and as built records.
- Support pre sales and scoping activities by providing technical input, effort estimates, assumptions, risks, and implementation considerations.
- Work with senior consultants, project managers, account managers, and managed services engineers to ensure a clean transition from project delivery into support.
- Contribute to internal standards, reusable architecture patterns, lessons learned, and technical knowledge sharing.
- Mentor less experienced engineers where appropriate, without losing accountability for your own delivery commitments.

What you will bring

- Practical experience delivering network or security projects in an MSP, systems integrator, consulting, enterprise, education, health or government adjacent environment.
- Strong hands on capability across switching, routing, wireless, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, security policy, segmentation, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with HPE Aruba Networking, Aruba Central, ClearPass, Fortinet, Sophos, Palo Alto, Juniper, Cisco or equivalent technologies.
- The ability to write clear technical documentation that other engineers can trust and clients can rely on.
- Strong client communication skills, including the ability to explain technical risk, options, trade offs, and implementation impacts in plain language.
- A delivery mindset. You can manage your commitments, surface risks early, and work to an agreed scope rather than letting projects drift.
- A professional approach to quality, time recording, change control, and handover documentation.
- Unrestricted work rights in Australia. Some client engagements may require background screening, a national police check,

a Queensland Blue Card, or additional client specific clearance.

Highly regarded

- HPE Aruba Networking certifications such as ACMA, ACMP, ACCP, ACSA, ACSP, ACMX or equivalent practical experience.
- Fortinet certification, Sophos certification, Palo Alto certification, CCNA, CCNP, CWNA, CWDP, Ekahau or similar relevant credentials.
- Experience with Network Access Control, 802.1X, ClearPass, identity based access, guest onboarding, wireless surveys, or campus network refresh projects.
- Experience preparing statements of work, project estimates, implementation plans, risk registers, or technical option papers.
- Exposure to Essential Eight, ISO 27001, NIST, zero trust, SASE, vulnerability management, or security uplift projects.
- Experience working with schools, universities, health organisations, public sector entities, not for profits, or regulated mid market clients.

Why join Aryon

- You will work on meaningful infrastructure and security projects, not just a never ending ticket queue.
- You will have visible ownership of outcomes, from discovery and design through to delivery and handover.
- You will work with experienced consultants and senior leaders who understand networking, cyber security, managed services, and client advisory work.
- You will be part of a business that values quality documentation, clean handover, sound design, and practical client outcomes.
- You will have opportunities to deepen your capability across network architecture, cyber security, modern workplace, advisory, and professional services delivery.
- You will work in a versatile hybrid model, with a mix of office, client site, and remote work depending on project needs.

Who this role suits

- A senior network engineer who wants broader project ownership and more client facing advisory work.
- A professional services engineer who enjoys design, deployment, documentation, and technical leadership.
- An MSP or systems integrator engineer who wants to move further into scoped projects and away from reactive support.
- A technically strong engineer who can communicate with business stakeholders without losing engineering discipline.
- A candidate who values quality, accountability, and professional pride in the finished result.

Aryon Pty Ltd is an equal opportunity employer. We assess candidates on capability, experience, values alignment, and role fit. We welcome applications from qualified candidates from all backgrounds.
