TAB Resources is seeking an experienced Welder / Boilermaker to support the delivery of industrial, mining, port, infrastructure and construction projects throughout the Illawarra region. The role will be primarily responsible for the fabrication, assembly, installation, maintenance and repair of structural steel, mechanical equipment, piping systems and associated infrastructure in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications and quality requirements.
This includes:
Fabricate, assemble and weld structural steel, pipework, platforms, supports, brackets and mechanical components.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, fabrication drawings, welding procedures and technical specifications.
Perform MIG, TIG, FCAW and Stick welding as required.
Prepare materials through measuring, marking, cutting, grinding, drilling and fitting activities.
Complete workshop fabrication works for client projects.
Assist with site installation, modification, shutdown and maintenance activities.
Conduct repairs to conveyors, chutes, handrails, walkways, plant and equipment as required.
Ensure all fabricated items meet dimensional tolerances and quality requirements.
Carry out inspections and checks to ensure compliance with project specifications and Australian Standards.
Maintain accurate records of completed works, inspections and quality documentation.
Safely operate workshop equipment including welders, oxy-cutting equipment, grinders, drills and lifting equipment.
Work collaboratively with supervisors, tradespersons, contractors and clients to achieve project objectives.
Participate in toolbox talks, SWMS reviews, risk assessments and continuous improvement initiatives.
What we're looking for
Applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents.
To be successful in this role you will have:
Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Boilermaker/Fabricator)
Minimum 5 years' experience in structural steel or SMP fabrication
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
Proficient in MIG/FCAW/TIG welding
Experience with band saws, pedestal drills, grinders and fabrication equipment
Current White Card
Strong commitment to safety and quality
Able to work independently with minimal supervision
Successful applicants will be required to undertake a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol test.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with the following will be highly regarded:
Coded welder qualification (e.g. AS/NZS ISO 9606-1)
Experience working to AS/NZS 1554
Forklift licence (LF)
Dogging (DG) or Basic Rigging (RB) ticket
EWP licence
Overhead crane experience
Confined Space and Working at Heights
First Aid certificate
Experience in mining, heavy industry or industrial construction
QA/QC experience, including weld traceability and inspection documentation
Basic rigging and lifting knowledge
Ability to mentor apprentices or trades assistants
