An exceptional career opportunity exists to join the Building, Planning and Compliance Department as a Compliance Officer. Working closely with the community, and Councils Building, Planning and Local Laws Compliance officers and primarily responsible for:
Effectively and efficiently administering, investigating and enforcing the provisions of the Greater Shepparton Planning Scheme, the Building Act 1993, the Building Regulation 2018, the Planning and Environment Act 1987, the Local Government Act 1989, Greater Shepparton Local Law No 1 - Community Living 2018 and related Acts and Regulations and ensure compliance with building, planning and local law permits.
To be successful within the Building, Planning and Compliance Department, you will have:
- Tertiary qualification in Planning, Building Law or Local Government and/or related experience in a compliance or enforcement role.
- Demonstrated understanding of relevant Acts, Regulations and Local Laws including the Building Act 1993, Building Regulation 2018, Planning and Environment Act 1987, Local Government Act 2020 and Greater Shepparton Local Law No 1 – Community Living 2018.
- High level customer service,
communication and interpersonal skills and ability to facilitate effective outcomes with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake enforcement activities including legal proceedings VCAT and Magistrates Court.
- Effective time management skills and ability to manage work load despite competing priorities.

Note: This position is subject to a 6 month qualifying period in accordance with the Fair Work Australia minimum employment period. During the qualifying period employees will be provided with appropriate on-going induction, support, assistance, resources and training to enable them to meet the required performance standards for the position.
