The PMSA is seeking an experienced Senior Workplace Relations Manager to provide specialist advice and practical support across a broad and complex employee and industrial relations portfolio.

Reporting to the Executive Director – People, this standalone role works closely with the Executive Leadership Team, school leaders and HR professionals to support the effective management of complex workplace relations matters across the organisation.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of the organisation's workplace relations function, influence organisational culture and capability, and help ensure workplace practices are fair, consistent, compliant and aligned with organisational priorities.

The opportunity

The PMSA is seeking an experienced Senior Workplace Relations Manager to provide specialist advice and practical support across a broad and complex employee and industrial relations portfolio.

Reporting to the Executive Director – People, this standalone role works closely with the Executive Leadership Team, school leaders and HR professionals to support the effective management of complex workplace relations matters across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

- Lead the development and implementation of PMSA's employee relations strategy.





- Provide trusted and practical ER/IR advice to senior leaders and HR professionals.

- Manage complex employee relations matters, providing sound advice and guidance to leaders throughout the process.

- Lead workplace investigations, ensuring procedural fairness and sound, evidence-based outcomes.

- Interpret and apply the Fair Work Act, National Employment Standards, Modern Awards and enterprise agreements.

- Support enterprise bargaining, workforce consultation and agreement implementation.

- Build constructive relationships with unions and employee representatives and support the resolution of complex workplace disputes.

- Develop and review ER policies, frameworks, templates and guidance to strengthen leadership capability.

- Prepare advice, risk assessments and recommendations on significant workplace relations matters and emerging trends.

- Partner with HR, Risk and WHS leaders to identify and manage people-related risk.

- Lead continuous improvement of ER practices, including the effective use of technology, data and systems.

About you

You are an experienced employee and industrial relations professional who combines strong technical knowledge with sound judgement, commercial awareness and excellent interpersonal skills.

You will bring:





- Extensive experience in employee and industrial relations, with the ability to manage complex and sensitive workplace matters.

- Strong knowledge of Australian employment and industrial relations legislation.

- Significant experience managing complex workplace matters and investigations.

- Experience in enterprise bargaining, consultation and negotiation.

- The ability to provide clear, practical advice and influence senior leaders on sensitive and high-risk matters.

- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills, including experience working with unions and employee representatives.

- A solutions-focused approach that balances employee considerations, organisational priorities and workplace relations risk.

- Familiarity with HRIS platforms and an ability to contribute to the effective implementation and ongoing improvement of HR systems.

- Experience developing policies, frameworks and practical tools that improve leadership capability.

- A tertiary qualification in HR, industrial relations, employment relations or a related discipline.

Experience within the education sector will be highly regarded, although it is not essential.

Mandatory requirements

A valid blue card or willingness to obtain a blue card is required.
