We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled Facilities & Operations Coordinator to join our Operations team at the Westmead Institute for Medical Research.

This role plays a critical part in ensuring the reliable operation of complex building systems that directly support world-class medical research and clinical translation. Working in a hands-on and cooperative environment, you will be responsible for maintaining, monitoring, and improving building infrastructure, including Building Management Systems (BMS) and HVAC systems.

About the Role

Working in a hands-on and team-oriented environment, you will be responsible for maintaining, monitoring, and improving building infrastructure, including Building Management Systems (BMS) and HVAC systems.

Key Responsibilities

- Monitor and manage Building Management Systems (BMS) and building automation systems

- Perform fault finding,



system monitoring, trend analysis, and optimisation of HVAC and environmental controls

- Respond to building faults, alarms, and operational incidents

- Coordinate and supervise external contractors for maintenance and specialist works

- Support general facilities maintenance and hands-on building operations

- Assist with building upgrades, projects, and system improvements

- Participate in on-call and out-of-hours support when required

- Support inspections, contractor coordination, and operational activities

About You

You are a practical, solutions-focused professional with experience in building services or facilities management and a strong technical mindset.

You will bring:

- 3+ years’ experience in Facilities Management, Building Services, HVAC, or similar technical environment

- Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) or HVAC controls (highly desirable)

- Trade background in electrical, mechanical, HVAC or similar (desirable)

- Experience coordinating contractors and maintenance activities

- Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills

- Ability to work independently and take ownership of issues
