The Postdoctoral Researcher will contribute to innovative biomedical research within the Centre for Transplant and Renal Research (CTRR), supporting research that aims to improve understanding of kidney injury and advance future approaches to treatment.

This is an initial 14-month fixed-term position commencing October 2026 and concluding December 2027, with the opportunity for the role to be reviewed for a further extension based on performance and research requirements.

The role provides an exciting opportunity for an experienced researcher to conduct high-quality laboratory-based research within a collaborative and supportive environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and performing experiments, analysing and interpreting research findings, contributing to scientific publications and presentations, and supporting the ongoing activities of the laboratory.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary research team, the Postdoctoral Researcher will play an important role in advancing research outcomes through effective experimental design, application of advanced laboratory techniques, accurate data analysis and communication of scientific findings. The role will involve troubleshooting experimental challenges, maintaining high research standards, and ensuring laboratory activities are conducted in accordance with relevant safety requirements, ethical standards and WIMR policies.

The successful candidate will contribute to the day-to-day running of the laboratory and support the development of students and junior researchers by sharing technical knowledge, providing guidance and contributing to a positive and collaborative research culture.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

Knowledge and Skills

- A PhD qualification in Biological Sciences, Health Sciences or a related discipline.





- Strong research experience in biomedical science, with preference given to candidates with expertise in immunology, cardiovascular biology or kidney-based research.

- Proficiency in English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.

- Demonstrated experience conducting laboratory-based biomedical research.

- Strong molecular biology skills, including experience with:

- Cell culture

- Flow cytometry

- Other relevant laboratory techniques

- Experience working with animal models of disease, including animal handling and related research procedures.

- Strong understanding of experimental design, research methodologies and scientific data analysis.

- Ability to independently plan, conduct and troubleshoot experiments.

- Experience preparing scientific manuscripts, abstracts, reports and presenting research findings.

- Ability to communicate complex scientific information clearly to a range of audiences.

- Ability to work collaboratively with researchers, students and laboratory team members.
