Job Description: Excavator Operator
BMC Partnership is looking for a reliable and skilled Excavator Operator to join our team, based in the Moree, NSW area. We own and operate two 35T Case excavators - one long reach and one short reach - both near-new, with the oldest being a 2023 model. The role is centred on cotton irrigation channel construction, along with broader irrigation infrastructure work including pump station construction and general channel construction. We're after someone with 1-3 years of hands-on excavator experience who takes pride in doing the job safely and to a high standard. Full-time or part time arrangements are available, depending on the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate excavators safely and efficiently to complete drainage and earthworks tasks
- Read and interpret site plans, drainage maps, and grade requirements
- Perform pre-start and routine maintenance checks on machinery
- Work collaboratively with the wider team to meet project timelines
- Identify and report any mechanical issues or site hazards promptly
- Maintain accurate records of work completed (e.g. hours, drainage runs, materials)
- Follow all health and safety procedures and site protocols
- Ensure equipment is stored, cleaned, and maintained appropriately
Requirements
- 1-3 years' experience operating an excavator (agricultural or civil earthworks experience preferred)
- Sound understanding of drainage systems and grading is highly regarded
- Valid driver's licence
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work to specifications/plans
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Relevant tickets/certifications (if applicable) are an advantage
Pay
Pay rate is dependent on experience. Operators who can consistently deliver quality, efficient work will be paid at a higher rate, reflecting the value they bring to our clients.
