Job Description
Welder – Griffith NSW Kogan People Solutions, recruiters, are working with a long-standing regional farming business operating in large-scale cotton production based in regional New South Wales.
The operation is focused on efficient, high-quality harvest outcomes supported by modern machinery and practical, experienced farm teams. Our client manages a large-scale fleet of heavy machinery, earthmoving equipment, and specialized agricultural implements. To maximize fleet uptime and keep our operations running smoothly across the region, we are seeking an experienced, self-motivated Full time Welder to join the team.
Responsibilities
- Welding and construction responsibilities for agriculture equipment Preparation of various metal types (mild steel, bisalloy, stainless steel and cast) for cutting (oxy/acetylene torch, grinders and drop saws), joining (mig welding and manual arc) and hard facing(tungsten and 412 floppy rod)
- Constructing frames for row crop tillage and repairing various machines which are worn or in need of repair
- Hard facing numerous points on cultivators, rippers and chisel plows
- Studying drawings, plans and specifications to determine job requirements
- Constructing metal frames for automated water stops out of stainless steel to add longevity
- Cutting to the required measurements and detailed application to ensure minimal losses in the steel
- Welding in different methods single line, triple line, vertical sweep and down run
- Examining welds to ensure strength and precision
- Installing frames for automated stops
- Cleaning and smoothing welds by filing, chiselling and grinding
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe welding bay and service vehicle.
Adhere strictly to Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) standards, including hot-work permits, risk assessments, and proper PPE utilization (especially when working around fuels and agricultural chemicals).
Requirements
- Possess a Certificate IV in a relevant field of study, or an agreed equivalent. Have one or more years of trade or professional experience working in similar roles. Demonstrate strong attention to detail, a high standard of work, and proven experience in the welding field.
- Be able to skilfully read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings. Work with a high level of safety awareness at all times. Be capable of undertaking physical labour, including the safe use of workshop equipment
- Be experienced in MIG and other welding techniques. Show a proven ability to prioritise, set goals, and maintain the determination to achieve them. Enjoy working within cohesive teams and following instructions closely.
- Be highly safety-conscious and comfortable always utilizing required PPE.
