Join a growing Australian manufacturer where your ideas can make a real impact.

Industrial Plastics is seeking a Project Engineer to join our team in Hemmant, Brisbane.

We're looking for an engineer with approximately 3–5 years' experience in metal fabrication or heavy manufacturing who is ready to take the next step in their career. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, working closely with production teams and managing projects from concept through to completion.

As one of Australia's leading engineered plastics manufacturers, we design and manufacture custom solutions for the mining, water treatment, chemical processing, infrastructure and industrial sectors. Every project is different, giving you the opportunity to work on technically interesting projects that challenge you and continue to develop your skills.

We're particularly interested in candidates from a metal fabrication or boilermaking background who can bring practical manufacturing knowledge, fresh ideas and a continuous improvement mindset to our engineering team.

Working closely with our Technical Sales Team, Production Manager and workshop team, you'll coordinate custom fabrication projects from design through to manufacture and delivery.

This is a hands-on role where you'll spend time both in the office and on the factory floor, collaborating with experienced tradespeople to deliver high-quality engineered solutions.

No two days are the same. You'll be involved in a diverse range of custom projects, helping solve real manufacturing challenges while ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standard.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage projects from quotation and design through to manufacture and delivery.

- Coordinate production schedules and liaise with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.

- Prepare manufacturing documentation, drawings and project information.

- Provide technical support to the workshop throughout fabrication.

- Monitor project progress, budgets and delivery timeframes.

- Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing processes, quality and efficiency.

- Work collaboratively with production to solve engineering and fabrication challenges.

- Build strong relationships with customers through clear communication and professional service.

About You

We're looking for someone who is practical, motivated and eager to continue developing their engineering career.

Ideally, you'll have:

- A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline.

- Approximately 3–5 years' experience in a Project Engineer, Production Engineer or Manufacturing Engineer role.

- Experience within metal fabrication, boilermaking, stainless steel fabrication, pressure vessels or heavy manufacturing.

- The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

- Strong organisational and project coordination skills.

- Excellent communication skills and the confidence to work closely with production teams.

- A practical, solutions-focused approach to engineering.

- A genuine interest in continuous improvement and manufacturing excellence.

Experience in custom manufacturing or workshop environments will be highly regarded.

Why Join Industrial Plastics?

At Industrial Plastics, you'll be joining a business that values initiative, collaboration and continuous improvement.

We're proud of our reputation for delivering high-quality engineered solutions, but we're always looking for better ways to design, manufacture and deliver our products. We encourage our team to contribute ideas, challenge existing processes and help drive innovation across the business.

- A supportive and collaborative team environment.
- Direct exposure to both engineering and manufacturing, giving you the chance to broaden your skills.
- Genuine opportunities for professional growth and career progression.
- A stable, well-established Australian manufacturing business with a strong reputation for quality.
