Northern Sydney Cataract is a leading specialist ophthalmology practice based in modern rooms in Northbridge on Sydney’s Lower North Shore. As the first point of contact, you’ll create a positive impression for every patient and referrer, ensuring they feel welcomed, informed and supported throughout their visit.
You’ll be joining a supportive, collaborative team led by a hands‑on Practice Manager who values open communication, continuous improvement and recognising everyone’s contribution.
About the Role
As a Practice Administrator, you will play a key role in the daily operation and continued success of our specialist practice while delivering a consistently high standard of service to our patients and referrers.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Welcoming patients and providing a professional and caring first impression
- Managing patient enquiries by phone and coordinating appointments and recalls
- Coordinating surgical bookings and admission paperwork
- Processing patient registrations, billing, Medicare and Health Fund claims
- Triaging referral and incoming correspondence
- Liaising with surgeons, hospitals, optometrists, GPs and other healthcare providers
- Maintaining accurate electronic medical records
- Providing administrative support to our team of seven ophthalmic surgeons
- Contributing to the efficient day‑to‑day operation of the practice
About You
You genuinely care about people and understand the importance of making every patient feel welcomed, respected and supported. You enjoy working in a busy workplace and take pride in delivering outstanding service.
Ideally, you will have:
- Previous experience in an ophthalmology or specialist medical practice (highly desirable)
- A minimum of one years experience in medical reception and administration
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- A warm, professional and compassionate manner
- Strong organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail
- The ability to prioritise tasks and remain calm in a busy setting
- High‑level computer skills and confidence learning new software
- A proactive approach and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Professional presentation and a commitment to high standards
- Knowledge of Shexie software (highly regarded)
