Disability Support Worker

Supported Independent Living (SIL) & Community Supports - Moreton Bay & Sunshine Coast

Helping people build the life they genuinely want to live

At The Place For Belonging, we believe every person deserves to live with dignity, purpose and a genuine sense of belonging.

That means disability support is about far more than personal care or completing tasks. It's about listening, building trust, supporting choice, creating opportunities, and helping people achieve the goals that matter to them.

If that's why you became a support worker, and you’re looking for a workplace where professionalism, empathy and teamwork are genuinely valued, we'd love to meet you.

Who we are

The Place For Belonging is a registered NDIS provider delivering SIL, Community Access, In-Home Supports and Respite across the Moreton Bay and Sunshine Coast regions.

We partner with people living with psychosocial, intellectual and physical disabilities, including participants with complex support needs, and that means the quality of our practice matters every day. Every person is different, and we believe every person deserves support that is respectful, consistent and tailored to their individual goals.

Our name isn't just our brand. It reflects our purpose

For us, great support is about more than providing care. It is about walking alongside people as they build lives that feel meaningful and authentically their own. It’s about helping participants find their place to belong.

This role isn't for everyone

Let’s be honest. Some people see disability support as an easy job. It isn’t.

We are looking for professional support workers, not people simply looking for a job. We believe disability support is a profession. It deserves the same pride, accountability and commitment as any other profession. This role carries enormous responsibility. Every conversation, every decision and every interaction has the potential to improve, or diminish, someone's quality of life.

If you think this role is about sitting with a participant while catching up on your own messages, scrolling your phone, running your own errands or simply getting through the shift, this isn't the role for you. Person-centred support isn't about you. It's about the participant, their goals, their choices, their independence, and their life.

We're looking for people who understand that every shift is an prospect to help someone build a better life, and who take that responsibility seriously.

What we are looking for

We believe the quality of support participants experience is directly shaped by the quality of the team around them. Because of this, we look for people who want to build meaningful relationships with participants and contribute positively to the team.

You’ll be someone who:

- Builds genuine relationships that create trust and independence.
- Empowers people to achieve their goals, not your own.
- Remains calm,

patient and respectful during challenging situations.
- Follows participant care plans and behaviour support plans consistently.
- Communicates professionally.
- Wants to continually learn and improve.

You’ll also be someone who understands that shift notes and incident reports are not paperwork to get out of the way before going home. They are a critical part of delivering quality, person-centred support and ensuring the participant’s story, progress and support needs are properly understood. This is how we advocate for our participants.

Experience is valuable, BUT character and values are essential.

Our culture

Our team leaders work closely with our team to ensure supports are delivered safely, professionally and in line with participant plans and our culture is built on respect, professionalism and a shared commitment to doing the right thing for participants and for each other.

Everything we do is underpinned by our four core values:

- Transparency & Integrity
- Believe It's Possible
- Exceptional Service
- Together We Achieve Excellence

Our values only matter if we live them every day. That’s why every decision starts with two simple questions:

- Does this decision honour the participant?
- Does this decision honour the team?

If the answer to either question is no, we stop and rethink the decision.

Join our team

If you're looking for an easy job, we're probably not the organisation for you.

If you're looking for meaningful work, where you can make a genuine difference in someone's life every day, we'd love to hear from you.

Help people find their place to belong.
