POSITION SUMMARY The Residential Care Worker is responsible for providing person-centred care and support to residents in accordance with organisational policies, care plans, and relevant industry standards.

The role requires the ability to work effectively in a residential care environment while promoting residents' wellbeing, independence, dignity, and quality of life, ensuring a safe, supportive, and respectful living environment.

Task & Responsibilities

- Providing direct care, supervision, and support to residents in a residential care environment, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social wellbeing at all times.
- Assisting residents with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, mobility assistance, meal support,



and medication administration in accordance with individual care plans.
- Supporting residents to develop independent living skills and encouraging participation in social, recreational, and community-based activities to promote inclusion and quality of life.
- Implementing and monitoring individual care plans in consultation with healthcare professionals, families, and support networks to meet residents' ongoing care and support needs.
- Observing, monitoring, and documenting residents' behaviours, progress, and health conditions, and reporting concerns, incidents, or changes to management and relevant professionals.
- Providing emotional support, guidance, and behavioural assistance to residents while maintaining a safe, respectful, and supportive living setting.
- Assisting in the coordination of rehabilitation, recovery, and support programs designed to improve residents' independence and overall wellbeing.
- Maintaining accurate records, case notes, incident reports, and other documentation in compliance with organisational policies, NDIS standards, and relevant legislative requirements.
- Responding appropriately to emergencies, crises, and challenging behaviours in accordance with established procedures and duty of care obligations.
- Liaising effectively with families, carers, healthcare providers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated and person-centred care delivery.
- Participating in staff meetings, professional development activities,



and continuous improvement initiatives to support the delivery of high-quality residential care services at SP Initiatives Pty Ltd T/A Holistic Recovery.

Qualification & experience

- Diploma in a related field (or equivalent) desirable.
- First Aid certificate and CPR certificate.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check clearance (or ability to obtain prior to commencement).
- Current Working With Children Check (NSW).
- Current (or ability to obtain) Police Check / National Criminal History Check.
- Current valid driver's licence (and ability to travel as required).
- 1 year or more experience working in residential care, disability services or a similar environment.
- Experience in personal care, supporting people with disability, managing or assisting with medication, and implementation of individual support plans.
- Experience working with people with a range of disabilities, potentially including intellectual disability, autism, acquired brain injury, psychosocial disability, and physical / sensory disabilities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build rapport with participants, families, and carers.
- Empathy, patience, flexibility and cultural sensitivity.
- Ability to work in a team, accept supervision and support others.
- Sound organisational skills, ability to multitask and adapt to changing situations.
- Problem solving and decision making; ability to follow procedures and respond appropriately in emergencies.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
