About the role
Are you looking for an exciting professional development opportunity? Are you interested in providing emergency mental health assessments and telehealth triage services? Hunter New England Mental Health Intake Services is seeking motivated and skilled clinicians to join our team in a permanent position. This is an exciting opportunity to work across a dynamic and innovative service that includes The Mental Health Line, Northern Mental Health Emergency Care - Rural Access Program (NMHEC-RAP), and the Mental Health First Responder service. As part of Mental Health Intake Services, you will play a key role in providing mental health triage, assessment, referral, and crisis intervention to consumers across the Hunter New England region, supporting access to timely and appropriate mental health care. This role will see you work across a rotating 24/7 shift roster. Requirements
- Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA with relevant post-registration qualifications and at least 3 years' experience working in the clinical area of their specified post-graduate qualification, or such other qualifications or equivalent experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organisation. OR;
- Must hold a qualification in Occupational Therapy, Psychology ,
Dietitian, Social Work, Counsellor (Degree in Bachelor of Health Science Mental Health, Djirruwang Program) which provides eligibility or membership of the relevant professional association / provisional or general registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and proven experience in related field or a combination of both study and experience.
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge working with people with mental health concerns and their carers/guardian/family members and primary care networks. This includes knowledge of legislation and policies relating to Mental Health Services, including the Mental Health Act 2007.
- Demonstrated experience in providing clinical leadership, consultation, supervision and education for staff and/or students.
- Demonstrated commitment to consumer and carer focused clinical practice which is collaborative and provided in a holistic and respectful way.

- To be eligible for permanent employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or a permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current Recent Zealand Passport.
