We are seeking an experienced Butcher to join the team at Mega Meats Booval. This is a full-time position based in Booval, QLD 4304. As a Butcher, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the quality and reputation of our meat products whilst delivering exceptional service to our customers. This position is central to our operations, ensuring that every cut of meat meets our high standards and customer expectations.

What you'll be doing

- Selecting and preparing high-quality cuts of meat from carcasses using various butchering techniques and equipment
- Trimming, boning and portioning meat to customer specifications and market requirements
- Operating meat slicing and processing machinery safely and efficiently
- Maintaining strict hygiene and food safety standards throughout all meat handling and preparation processes
- Displaying meat products attractively in refrigerated cases and ensuring proper labelling with pricing and product information
- Assisting customers with product selection and providing expert advice on meat quality, cuts and cooking methods
- Managing inventory levels and ensuring the freshness and quality of all meat products on display
- Cleaning and sanitising work areas, equipment and tools in accordance with health and safety regulations
- Contributing to a positive team environment and supporting colleagues during peak trading periods

What we're looking for

- Proven experience working as a qualified Butcher in a retail or commercial meat environment
- Sound knowledge of various cuts of meat, butchering techniques and meat quality grading standards
- Proficiency in using butchering equipment and machinery safely and competently
- Strong understanding of food safety regulations,



including the Food Safety Standards Code and HACCP principles
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to engage with customers and provide knowledgeable advice
- Physical capability to perform the demands of the role, including standing for extended periods and lifting and carrying heavy items
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and presentation
- A reliable, qualified attitude with strong communication and teamwork skills
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in butchery, food safety or meat processing are advantageous
