We offer an alternative to large mainstream learning environments, where we nurture and inspire our students. Now in our 6th year of operations, we have experienced steady growth, always seeking to achieve great outcomes for our students with continuous improvement. We currently have 85 motivated young people engaged in completing their schooling.

We offer the NESA curriculum in an educational setting tailored for young people to support their learning and belonging. Our Stage 5 program (Years 9/10) enables students to attain the NSW RoSA and our Stage 6 program (Senior 1 and 2) leads to the HSC in a compressed curriculum model. We offer small class sizes and a supportive, flexible, engaging and practical learning setting for motivated students that have not thrived in mainstream settings. We aim to reconnect students with their education, help them set a new direction and build their skills and knowledge for future success.

We are seeking an innovative Leader, Curriculum and Teaching to join our growing team. The role is a rare opportunity to 'get in on the ground floor' to influence the design and delivery of our educational program within an inclusive, supportive and flexible school environment. As the Leader, Curriculum and Teaching you willcontribute to strategic decision-making and innovative, contemporary curriculum development. As the leader of our Teaching team you will set the standard for collaborative development of best practice pedagogy focused on the quality, content and delivery of our programs, policies and procedures.





In this role you will be responsible for sustaining the balance between NESA Regulation and Accreditation requirements while fulfilling the philosophy and alternative education approaches of Gateway Community High. As a senior member of the School staff, you will work closely with the Head of Campus and the Leader of Wellbeing & Student Support, and role model the vision and values of the School.

This role includes a 0.4 teaching load and would ideally suit a generalist teacher who is comfortable supervising all subject areas, including VET. This position will suit teaching professionals looking to move to this style of teaching environment, with passion and experience working with a diverse range of learners and a focus on youth development.

The School is part of a growing movement of low-fee special assistance schools. We are student-centred, with a holistic focus on wellbeing. We are not a registered behavioural or special school.

Selection Criteria: Experience, Skills and Commitment to Purpose

Ability to engage, relate and work appropriately and sensitively with our target cohort of young people with a range of abilities, ambitions and backgrounds.

A team player with subject matter expertise in curriculum and teaching, able to partner collaboratively with colleagues and a diverse range of stakeholders.

Experience in a leadership role within an educational setting, preferably with a focus on educational support within diverse environments.

Track record in building and leading a collaborative and purposeful team committed to continuous improvement that ensures students’ educational outcomes.

Proven experience in curriculum design and contemporary instructional leadership that supports students who may face a range of challenges to full participation in their School education.

Ability to demonstrate the principles of effective teaching/learning practices through the facilitation of innovative and contemporary learning and educational strategies.

Understanding of contemporary pedagogy and methods which successfully deliver differentiated learning programs that promote classroom engagement for diverse groups of learners.

Empathetic, resilient, positive and committed to supporting the holistic development of students.

A Generalist with some experience with VET is desirable but not essential.
