Strategic Asset Management Lead
Permanent Full Time
Help shape the future of one of Western Australia's fastest growing cities.
As the City of Armadale continues its transformation into a Strategic Metropolitan Centre, we're investing in the infrastructure that will support our growing community for generations to come.
This is an opportunity to lead the strategic planning of a diverse portfolio of community assets, ensuring every investment is informed, sustainable and delivers lasting value. If you're passionate about using evidence, innovation and strategic thinking to influence how cities grow and thrive, we'd love to hear from you.
About the Role
As our Strategic Asset Management Lead, you'll lead the City's strategic asset management function a newly created leadership role established as part of a redesign of how Armadale plans, delivers and maintains its infrastructure. You'll be one of the first three leaders appointed into this new operating model, with genuine scope to build the team and set the direction of the function from the ground up.
Working closely with Executive leaders, operational teams and key stakeholders, you'll develop asset management strategies that balance community expectations, service levels, risk and financial sustainability across roads, drainage, parks, buildings and transport infrastructure. Your leadership will shape future infrastructure investment, inform the Long-Term Financial Plan and ensure our assets continue to deliver outstanding services for a rapidly growing community.
Few strategic asset management roles offer this combination: a genuinely expanding asset base, a seat at the table for city-wide investment decisions, and the opportunity to build a function rather than inherit one.
his is a highly influential leadership role where you'll:
- Lead the development of evidence-based Asset Management Plans across multiple infrastructure asset classes.
- Drive long-term renewal, upgrade and investment strategies that support sustainable service delivery.
- Influence the City's capital investment priorities through robust lifecycle analysis, condition assessments and risk-based decision making.
- Build and lead a high-performing team that champions best-practice asset management across the organisation.
- Partner with leaders across the business to strengthen asset planning capability and deliver continuous improvement.
If you're looking for a role where your expertise will influence city-wide decisions and leave a lasting legacy on the community, this is it.
About You
You're an experienced strategic asset management leader possibly currently working as a Coordinator or senior practitioner where asset planning sits under someone else's remit ready to lead the function outright and influence decisions at Council level.
You’ll bring
- Significant experience in strategic asset management within an asset-intensive environment, ideally local government.
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Asset Management, Infrastructure Planning or a related discipline.
- Strong knowledge of contemporary asset management principles, lifecycle planning and long-term infrastructure investment.
- Experience developing Asset Management Plans,
capital investment strategies and long-term financial planning inputs.
- Demonstrated success leading and developing high-performing teams or clear readiness to step into your first leadership role.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills, including with Executive leaders and Elected Members.
Professional qualifications in Asset Management (such as the IPWEA Professional Certificate in Asset Management Planning) will be highly regarded.
