This six-month rotation/contract may commence from 1 February 2027 (Term 1) or 2 August 2027 (Term 3) per preference and training requirements of the successful candidate(s).

About our Role

The Prince of Wales Emergency Department offers an ACEM-accredited six-month Emergency Medicine Ultrasound Special Skills Placement (SSP) for Stage 2–4 trainees. The position is full-time, comprising 0.5 FTE protected ultrasound training and 0.5 FTE clinical Emergency Medicine, providing trainees with the opportunity to develop expertise in both the technical and clinical application of point-of-care ultrasound (PoCUS). The placement also offers experience in ultrasound-guided procedures while encouraging participation in education, quality improvement, and research within a supportive, multidisciplinary teaching environment.

Our Primary Location

Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Servicesis a major teaching hospital and tertiary referral centre based on the Randwick Hospitals Campus. We provide excellent healthcare to SESLHD and specialist health and medical services to NSW. We connect with various universities including the University of New South Wales. Our premier medical facilities enable leading learning opportunities for our staff, with the Randwick Campus Redevelopment providing a world-class integrated setting for clinical care, research and education.

We have 450 inpatient beds and almost 3,000 staff.



Each year we care for more than 64,000 patients in our Emergency Department and around 50,000 patients are admitted to our Hospital. We also have a busy outpatient service and rural outreach service and provide more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year.

Randwick is a metropolitan hub in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs. We have a vibrant, multicultural community, with diverse dining options and regular entertainment hosted by our local council. For those fond of coastal living, we are a walk away from Coogee Beach. A short drive takes you to the famous Bondi Beach and Centennial Parklands.
